I've never heard the original, so.. I have nothing to compare it to.

I kind of like the big reverbish sound this has.. The only thing is - the vocals get a bit buried at times. Might wanna bring em' up just a bit.

The rest sounds pretty darn good.

I agree, the vocals get a little buried at parts. And I think that the rhythm guitar and the drums are kind of fighting a little. Maybe turn down the drums a tad (that snare really caught me by surprise at the beginning).

Other than those few small things, it sounds fantastic, and does seem to get that "big" feeling you were going for.

Cool, I'll check out the vocal levels. I kept turning them down with each mix thinking they were too loud 'till I got to this point...thank P.I.!

I think a lot of things may be fighting with each other on this, so I'll probably have to revisit it. Thanks for the good word and the tips...I'll be listening for these things tomorrow.

loved this....I love the Flaming Lips...great little band and this is a great version

not sure I can hear anything wrong...maybe the vocals are a little to low and a tiny wee ( ;) )bit of volume on the drums....the percussion shaker thing started to get in my brain after a while but I dont know if I was just focusing on it too much

very nice tune to listen to...in fact I think Ill do it again :)

Thanks. Just saw them live a few weeks ago for the first time. A truly amazing show. I highly recommend seeing them.

I checked this on a few other set ups and mostly hear the vocals fine...not sure what I'm missing? I think maybe in the chorus they could come up a bit as there is this crescendo at the end with drums and stuff and the words do get lost a little there...

Sorry about the brain thing...sounds unpleasant. Is it the shakers that are going rapid-fire, hard panned through the end of the song? Or is it something else earlier in the tune that jumps out? There is a tambourine with a vocoder effect ( :)) slapped on it somewhere in the middle there....

It sounds really good! :)
However, I agree that the drums should be turned down a bit.
I'm not sure about the volume of the vocals. Maybe they should be turned up a little, or they may be perfectly fine if the drums are turned down.

This sounds excellent - well balanced mix - I quite like the drums level, & I love the "washy" cymbal sound - it really adds intensity. The only vocal lines that are a bit hard to make out are the "answering" effected vocals... Top job!
BTW, what are you using for drums?

Thanks :). You are certainly not alone on the drums. They are just blasting away on the original version of this song and mine are actually kinda tame by comparison, but I'm moving in that direction. I may still try a drums-down/vocals-up mix, but haven't yet. Thanks again.

Thank you. Whew...someone who likes the loud drums. I am not alone at least :).

I am currently using Discrete Drums. A library of beats made for the Roland VS series. Probably about a 10 year old product, but vastly superior to the Boss drum machine I was using up until a few months ago. They are split into 8 tracks, so you can do a lot of tweaking if you want. Hard to get all the parts to fit together right though! Thanks again :).

Nice space around the drums. Mix is well balanced - maybe the vocals could come up very slightly...I'm struggling to find anything wrong with the mix on headphones. I don't know the tune but everything is sitting well together with good clarity

Thanks for listening Bulls! I've tried alt. mixes with lower drums and/or louder vox, but wasn't happy...still trying...

Also, I just uploaded my first youtube vid ever for this one...kinda rough, but I think I'll share it anyway and see what people think...

Thanks again :).
