Just Killing Time
So, I haven't really been around much lately, but I've been keeping busy with this. I mainly do rock/metal stuff, but I have a thing for Trance music aswell, and I'm thinking I could make a career out of this. My sister's been DJ'ing for years, and knows some cool people. She's over in Ibiza for a few months, and is getting me advice for this song from Bryan Kearney (google him), which is pretty cool. Not only that, but he'll be playing this in Ibiza, which is fucking brilliant. I'm chuffed :D

So, here you have it, my first trance track. Enjoy :)

Early Hours

(PS: I've given up hope on lightningmp3)

this really bums me out Phil :(

Nice punchy kick... Nice long intro... So far, sounding like some good Trance...

enter synths... Nice... Great FX...

YES! Change @ 1:30 is awesome! Lovin' the synth bass / ethereal pads... The sound played as snare isn't jivin' with me well.. Needs to have more treble... Sounds like a muffled, slowed-down, hand-clap.

Tempo is perfect....

Chord structure change at 2:56 is wonderful! Love it. Still not liking the snare sound... ugh...

All FX used are wonderful... Add wonderful sounds / feelings for the song..

Yay! Got rid of the snare sound in the soft part...

4:30 - love the fake buildup... Sounds of the keys are wonderful.. Yeah.. I'm really digging this.

Yup... Totally losing myself in this. Except for that snare sound.... Could you, would you, PLEASE change it? If you're up for opinions, I'd love to give you some sounds I'd love to hear in this... I'd solidly buy this if that snare was changed. I love everything about it. (all 8 minutes of it now) Still going!

Yes! Two thumbs up! Love it! awwwww yeah!

Awesome :) Lovin' this reply :D

It's actually a clap :o I had to go back in and turn it down anyway and add some high-end. It was completely screwing up the mastering by making it pump on every 2nd and 4th beat.

Tempo is perfect....

It was originally at 128, not at 135. Was going to be a house tune. I'll post up the original version my friend did, along with the second version of this one in my next reply :)

We were hoping for that :) That was the original "hook".

Shoot :) I'm always up for fresh ideas.

Awh shucks :o

Thanks PI, very much appreciated! :)

PS: What did ya mean by "fake" buildup?

I dont know much about trance but this sounds like its all there and production and mix are spot on...sounds good to go and wouldnt sound out of place in any gay bar...did I say gay bar I meant club dammit :)

would I add anything?? I wouldnt know...i love mangled vocals but glitch effects are starting to turn up everywhere, so id leave it..

great job!

so when we collabing? :)

Good shit. Inspires me to try my hand at trance.

I don't know much about the genre, so I'm at a loss for critiques/suggestions.

I don't much care for that hand clap sound. The kick sounds good but could have a little more oomph to it IMO. But I like very oomphy kicks, so go figure.

But overall good shit.

Trance huh. Interesting.
Beat sounds good, deep+tick combo is swell. Atmospherics are good, as are the fills. Expectations extremely high around 4:20. And then... it doesn't fully deliver. Imo, 5:00 onward should swell much, much more. Release at 5:27 is better than I had expected but with my eyes closed, pretending to be on a dancefloor I'm missing huge, mid-range biting swirling synths, psychedelic crazyness. I think the sounds you're using are really good and they're well layered but you're missing some essential party-power for this one to really stand out. Kind of like this one around 5:00. Better than most though!
