I used to lose picks a lot when I was younger (and stoned) however theses days I dont lose them anymore...probably because Im not stoned and also because I always lay them down in the same spot when Im using them (in my little home studio)...no matter what Im doing I make an effort to put the pick back or lay it down in the exact same spot.

Thats the only way to insure I wont lose it...Ive only started doing this in the last few years out of frustration from losing picks.

Ive been using the same pick for a few years now.

My favorite type of pick is the Jim Dunlop Nylon .73 mm.

------------

Maybe someone can start a thread on favorite types of picks...:D

My favorite pick is the one you lost 10 years ago and I found it.
I was stoned as well.:o

Haha all of your stories are cool guys. I'd have to say my favorite picks are the Fender Celluloids. I also like the Dunlop Standard Tortex. Both Medium. Pick brand doesn't really matter to me. I just like medium sizes. Just scooped a bunch out of the dryer :D

You could go down to the gulf beaches and pick up all the dead turtles then make your own out of their shells. I don't think that is against the law.

I typically use Dunlop Tortex or Big Stubby 1.0mm picks. When I need a little something extra, I reach for a Big Stubby 2.0mm. Thick picks are where it's at.

If no picks are available, I'm always down for some fingerstyle.

I like the big ugly triangular ones. I'm a heavy handed player and I need alot of pick to hold. They often disappear into the soundhole. But I've become adept over the years of getting them out quick with my legendary "horizontal mosquito across the waters" manouvre. And if it doesn't come out immediately, it doubles as a good percussion instrument. :D

Ahhh I use the same exact method! Super effective, and it attracts girls  :D

Well maybe that oil spill will bring some turtles up the east coast for me

BP is the biggest screw up ever :laughings:

the worst is when you drop it mid-strum and it flies under the bed or somethin and its gone forever. picks are like aerodynamic or something.

That's where the Fender Confetti picks come in handy :laughings:

Losing a pick into the body of an acoustic is annoying. When I lost a pick into the soundhole of my telecaster thinline I thought I'd never get it out.

Man, that's nothin! Imagine losing one into the "f" sound hole of an archtop!

Yes, I've done it. It's basically gone forever.

Easiest way to get a pick out of an acoustic soundhole is to put guitar over your head with soundhole facing toward you...and just start moving/shaking guitar up and down...the pick moves around and falls out of the soundhole.

Sounds like a good song title or album title...:D

"Out of the Soundhole"

actually the easiest way to get it out of an acoustic is to hold it soundhole up and get the pick on the bottom of the git directly below the soundhole and then flip the git over in an arc so the centripital force holds the pick against the bottom and when you stop it's now directly above the soundhole which now faces down and it falls right out.

My way is easier...by the time you line your pick up with soundhole im done...It doesnt take long for the pick to find its own way out doing it my way.

:D

Now everybody go put your pick in your soundhole and shake it already...lol
