This is like a comedy...
The low cut question is a common one though, and not just here. And the same problem goes on in the professional world. For every home grown self-titled producer there's another one that will blatantly disagree with what he says on any given topic. And for every actual, no-shit, money-making professional (Even the ones that Glen would agree are professionals) ........ there will be another one that blatantly disagrees with what he says on any given topic.
The problem is that this is MOSTLY art, there's good art, and there's bad art, but the topic is entirely subjective so it's moot to argue it. In fact...90% of the discussion on any of these recording forums are moot. Because there really and truly ISN'T any 100% right answer to any of these questions. There are, however, very likely some things about this that are MORE correct than other things. Which is what started this whole discussion in the first place. I would recommend in the future that people try and be a little more open to posting their stuff on here though...
"I've heard that a lot of people low cut everything but bass and drums, I tried it, it sounded good, but why did it work? (post song/examples...discuss)"

KC, I can understand what you're saying about the professionals saying they low cut everything. I've heard it also, it would be confusing to anyone who's trying to learn this stuff. +1 point for you...
...but...
-1 point for you for being an instigator. I think it's pretty clear to everyone here that you get off on the messes you create in these type of threads. It's obvious you're having fun. But that's your thing man...use it!

Glen, I can also understand what you're saying. It seems counterintuitive (because of the whole art thing) to use ANY formulas in music. But surely there are some TRENDS that could be discussed, which, while not formulaic, might shed some light on the whys behind the whats.. +1 point for you...
...but...
-1 point for you because you're not a very good teacher. Extremely experienced, undoubtedly knowledgeable, and clearly very intellectually aware of both the art and the business behind the "music thang". But you're not very encouraging, which is what I think most people are looking for. But you've made it clear that you don't feel the need to baby anyone on here, so I get that. Just don't be so surprised when everyone doesn't leap in your lap like grandpa when you lay your steel toed boots to their ideas.

So that leaves us....one, plus...one...minus...*mumble*
carry the two*mumble* RIGHT...back to square one.
Where's the next battle ground?
