this dumb pitch shifter

OK so i have a pitch shifter and i am going to mix my first time and i want to use a pitch shifter for a part in my song i want it to sound like this (listen between 1:00-1:05) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUZiBi3TvwQ but it just doesn't sound like it its not as clear and easy to hear.

also a totally different subject but what effect is this guy using for his voice? auto tune?

What pitch shifter is it? Have you tried pitch-shifting it to a not-as-low amount?

Can you post a sample of your pitch shifted vocal? We're at our best when we can hear what you hear.

And as for the second example, that sounds like auto-tune to me.
