Good morning, Cosmic.

I hope you don't mind if I introduce you to mshilarious, True Eurt, gekko zed, Chili and others.

They are the moderators of this BBS, and they offer free anti-spam posting services to keep crack dealer posts like this one off of the board.

I noticed you do not advertise cowbell mastering...
https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=300393

This is all the rage...once you master the cowbell you can master just about anything.

I think it would be good to include some info about the engineer, clients, real studio pics, gear etc. on your web site. Places masquerading as being true "mastering" studios and charging $20 a track are a dime a dozen.

The new website has only been up and running a few days. This is something that will be added in future.

Well, now that he can no longer get away with stealing Massive's gear list, including the "SS-oweL" or Klups trapping - or the Stereo Stupidifier with Digital Sonic Decrapulator, like he or his buddy tried doing last October under a different domain name, he doesn't know what to about a gear list.

Besides, he can't let a photographer in to photograph his "industry standard MP3 converters" ( :laughings:) because he can't let anybody actually see his "studio" because they keep people out so that "One of the main reasons our prices are so low is we don't need things like liability insurance."

*sniff-sniff* ... smell that? Don't eat it.

Hi all

I'm struggling to find much information on my monitoring predicament.

I've been mixing nearfield for sometime on Yamaha NS10's in my fairly small rectangular room. I had a JBL sub hooked up as well and sometimes i've gotten a great mix out of them but I always felt the bass was innacurrate with the sub. Which meant that the kick drum and bass had a tendency to come out a bit weedy on other systems.
Just lately, i've found the sub 'off putting' in mixing so tuned it a bit more so it gently extended the response and not overpowered it.

I must say the NS10's are getting a bit tiresome on the ears now and find them fatiging and pretty nasty to listen to. Also my mixes are very bass heavy as these NS10's don't have much since i've backed off the sub.

I think it's time to get some 'proper' less fatiging monitors.
I have a budget of £700. I need some monitors that aren't fatiging to listen to and some that accurately represent bottom end so my mixes don't come out bottom heavy. I also want to get rid of the JBL sub I use at the moment and just use full range monitors.

I've looked around the market and the Mackie HR624 MK2 seems like it might do the job. I thought about Genelecs too, but I fear they maybe too small (in this price range) to accurately represent bottom end. i.e I have a feeling that my mixes would still come out bass heavy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my next set of monitors have got to do the job well. I also can't afford to buy another pair if I get it wrong. They've also got to be much less fatiging than the NS10's
I mix all kinds of stuff, but mainly Funk, Jazz, and Rock.

Once I have a list of possibles I'm going to audition them all. However, i'm not sure how usefull this is as monitors sound different in different rooms.

Thanks for you advice in advance :)

Ok, since your open to discussing it and since this post (above) is only a couple months old.... What did you end up going with for monitors?

What I am saying is ...maybe consider forum etiquette and truth in advertising... ; )

So...is cosmicstudios and cosmicp the same person..?

If so, I thought registering under multiple aliases was not allowed and/or considered bad form...?
I know on other forums, you get quickly banned for that stuff...but I've honestly wondered about the HR forums, as I've seen new members pop up in the midst of forum debates, and I wondered how many were actual *new* members and how many were just aliases used to create debate smokescreens...?

From another forum that got hit this morning (same message)..I'm just busting balls... all in good fun ...and breaking balls; )

Wait a minute... We know this guy...? He's one of the [SELF-CENSORED]wads that was ripping off my site...?

But I just checked our HR Members List...and both names are there...so I ask again...is cosmicstudios and cosmicp the same person..?

If it is...IMO...that's a serious forum no-no...registering under multiple aliases.... :spank:
I'm sure the Mods can tell by his IP.

We don't mind answering any questions you have regarding mastering.

Actually, I do have one question, maybe not so related to mastering, but...

I've just recently acquired an art tube pre-amp which sounds lovely btw.

Anyway after reading through some of the manual it says it's great to use it to put final mixes through etc. and i'd be really interested in trying that out.

However, I'm at a bit of a loss on how you would patch this thing in to the desk as it has 1 Jack & XLR input and 1 Jack and XLR output. It's only one channel so how could I patch a stereo mix through it and still be left with a stereo mix at the end?

Any suggestions???

I can't say for sure whether it's the same guy - which is why I said "he or his buddy". Here's what I do know; they both are UK-based, the new cosmicmastering domain was just registered a week ago, and there is an eerie similarity in some of the FAQ information. They may or may not not be the same guy, but it's definitely the same dodge. A shyster is a shyster is a shyster, whether they have the same mother not doesn't much matter at that point.

The whole dodge about not allowing the client into the studio as a way for them to save money and therefore charge mAudio prices for mastering is what smelled stinkingly familiar to me.

And for that matter don't step in it, then walk into the studio.:laughings:

So here is one song/Fava is another.
I'm sure if I look the web over I could get a whole album done for nothing!
So as the first album will be FREEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

I'll tell you one thing... The guy's freaking busy. Spamming half the 'net today.

So he is all over other sites?
You know he'll pick up unsuspecting newbies everywhere and take them for everything they got ............................what a ****WAD

What happened here?

Some time ago, an internet only mastering studio gleaned the photos and equipment list from Massive's site and claimed it as his own. Even included the Stereo Stupifier which Massive had listed as tongue in cheek comedy. :laughings:

Anyways, my question to Cosmic a few posts up was one he asked in an earlier post, a year or two ago. So, he goes from not knowing how to run a stereo signal through a single channel mic pre to a Mastering Engineer all in a year. Amazing!!!
