Hi , im thinking about buying microphones , I thought 4 microphones would be enough - 1 for the snare, 1 for the bass drum , and 2 overheads . I want to buy good microphones , I mean also cheap ones because im only recording for a few months . Which microphones do you recommend ? I saw the sm 57 for the snare and it can also be used for the guitar which is great , the problem is that people on ebay offers good deals but I heard of fake shure's , how can I be sure it's real ? anyhow is there any other snare mic you recommend ? I also need a bass drum mic and an overhead , which ones would be right . Probably a budget of 200 dollars for everything .

Thanks

Yeah, on ebay you can't be sure... $200 is really tight, I think for that I'd get a cad pro 7 or something.. They run $200, but amazon.com just happens to have a 1/2 price deal for em right now - $105:

Those mics aren't better than a 57/d112/whatever, but they're decent, and I know at least a couple ppl around here get some great drum tracks with em. A 7-mic setup will offer more flexibility at mixdown too..

Why are you only recording for a few months?

Just wondering

The CAD set would suit you fine. But, does your budget include cables & stands? Because they will eat at your budget, also.

Try GLS mics. You can check them here:

Looks like SM57 but half the price. Search in this forum about those mics you will find good comments. I bought a 3 pack based upon what I´ve read here. If you´re on a budget it´s a no brainer I think. Remember you can use them on guitars too.

The GLS-ES57 are great mics. I've got two of them. $40 for mic, cable, bag, clip...you just can't beat it.

pick up some odd jobs over a few weekends and save up a couple hundred more bucks. A bit more money can help you step into a high league all together with your drum mics.

Also with a low budget I would suggest one good mono overhead instead of two crummy ones.

Sounds like he won't have the time. If he did, your suggestions would be ace. Are you the guy that does the "Record drums with two mics or two inputs" video ? If it is you, props, man ! If it isn't, well, props anyway !
