Hey all, here's my problem Ive got a delta 1010lt pci sound card, {8 mono ins and 8 mono outs},I've got a dynamic mic plugged into xlr input 1 on the delta, an Logitech x240 speakers plugged stereo splitter/rca jacks into 1/2 output on the delta,my DAW is Magix Music Studio 10 Deluxe.well here's the problem i cant seem to figure out how to pan my vocals in my mixes left or right,if i pan right the vocals just sound lower,if i pan left i cant hear nothing.Ive even tried recording my vocals in mono then tried to pan and nothing, i even tried to record in stereo then pan and still nothing. I have heard that maybe the reason i cannot pan is because the delta 1010lt card only has mono ins and outs, I don't know if that's the reason and if it is what would i need to buy or do to start panning and mixind down my vocals? thx for the help

Mono = Mono, no matter how you look at it. Try a y chord on the out put then maybe you can have two mono channels then you can pan left to right.....just a thought.

I tell you...even after reading several times, you have me confused.
Lets assume you correctly have your speakers set up.
Let's also assume you have the ability to record a true mono track.

If in your recording program you have the Delta1010 outputs 1 and 2 (not Delta monitor mixer) assigned to be your stereo master playback channels you should be able to pan a mono track to the left and only hear it through the left speaker...likewise if panned to the right...only through the right speaker.

If this is not happening you probably have something assigned wrong in you Delta applet.
The delta applet lets you choose what source goes to which output jack and it is easy to get it all honked up.

I use that card and you don't need to record the track in stereo to be able to pan it. That would be dumb because then every single track would have to be stereo and that isn't the way it works. Record in mono and playback through a stereo output, and you can pan.

Are you using the Delta Control Panel and in that panel what is the Analog Out 1/2 set to? And where are the plugs on coming out of the Delta break out cable attached to? Specifically the output jacks 1 & 2.

A wild guess would be that in the Delta Control Panel you have, in the Monitor Mixer screen, that one of the mute boxes is checked. That would result in what you are talking about.

You don't need any Y-cables, new program or vaporizer to pan mono tracks.

what he said. The problem lis in the control panel of the device. Either the driver or the monitor type.

I'm guessing he is trying to plug the stereo input jack of the speakers into one of the mono output jacks...

...Ive even tried recording my vocals in mono then tried to pan and nothing, ...

Your vocal (and MOST other things) *should* be recorded mono. One mic-->one channel = mono track. Plug your mic into channel 1 input on your 1010lt. In your software, make a new mono track and arm it to record the input from channel 1 of the 1010lt. That will give you 1 mono vocal track. With the pan knob on that track centered, you'll get equal amounts of that track out of both speakers. Pan left, pan right; you'll hear the result...

NOW, connect channel 1 output of the 1010lt to your left monitor and channel 2 output of the 1010lt to the right monitor. Set your daw to playback stereo output through the 1 and 2 outputs of your 1010lt. there is no need for any kind of splitter. I know for a fact that this works, because I have the same card (well, I have two installed now) for the past 8 years now. :):p:D

"Delta pan confusion" ?
That sounds like some seriously jazzy tripped out avant garde psychedelic Hopi Indian bluesman album from like, 1968 or something. A double album with one track extending over three sides, no less.

I had this same problem, but i have the Delta 1010 rack mount. My problem was an issue in the delta 1010 control panel. "operator error". I had my outputs set as Monitor mixer and not 1/2.

pan setting help delta1010lt

I have logitech speakers connected to 1/2 mono output on the delta outs, red to red, white to white.I have a dynamic mic connected into mic input 1 on the delta. On My Delta control panel, i have my 1/2 output set to monitor mixer and the balance pan setting set in the middle which reads symbol "<c>", if i set the 1/2 out to 1/2out instead of monitor mixer, i only here my voice on the right side of speaker/headphone, and cant here playback of music.what is the proper way to setup? i can only pan with delta control panel but not with my software, and my panning works perfectly with my old sound card. do i have something wrong in the delta control panel?anyways thx for help
