Are the Firebox and Firestudio that much better for the $$ than the Audiobox?

Depends on how many tracks you want to record. Do you want it to be daisy-chainable? Do you have firewire?

If you're only recording 2 tracks at a time, the the Audiobox should suite your needs.

probly just 1 track at a time cuz i`m gonna play all the instruments myself and I have electric drums with just one line out...maybe 2 for singing and playing sometimes...

The Audiobox should be just fine for you. It's got 2 microphone preamps with phantom power in case you use a condensor microphone. It's got MIDI in/out if you want to hook up any midi devices. It's USB, so it should work with just about any computer. And it's a good price.

And daisy-chaining is when you connect two devices together using a cable, such as a USB cable or Firewire cable. Example: the Firestudio series can be daisy chained together using firewire cables...so you could connect a Firestudio Moblile (has 2 preamps) and a Firestudio (has 8 preamps) to give you a total of 10 preamps.
