Forgive me if this has already been posted. I've looked around and just haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I've played guitar for 30 years but my last experience with recording was on a tascam 4 track recorder in 1987. At any rate, here's where I'm at and what I'm looking to do. I have a USB casio keyboard. I basically want to plug the keyboard into my computer, mess around with tons and tons of different keyboard effect sounds and then record music over multiple tracks and maybe add some guitar in the mix. what kind of software would I be looking at getting. For instance I was trying out absynth 5 and I LOVED the large amounts of different sounds and instruments it has, but how do I combine that with a multi track recorder. Are any compatible with it? and if I don't decide to spend the money on Absynth 5, are there any cheaper alternatives to get close to the goal I've set for myself? anyway, sorry to ramble on but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Or maybe I'm too old and confused. lol. Thanks a bunch.

For a simple user interface DAW I'd recommend Mixcraft Which comes with tons of effects and different synths. For drums you can't go wrong with EZDrummer and on top of that there are tons of free virtual instruments and virtual FX at VST Planet. Both EZDrummer and any VSTi(virtual instrument) can be controlled using your music keyboard.
