I have a D1000 and the instruction book says it a 16 channel mixer, but I only have 8 inserts how would I go about using the 16 channel feature?

thanks for any help, sorry if this question was answerd before.

The tm-d1000 has 8 analog in's, but also has 8 channels of t/dif, in or out, depending on mixer settings. If you recieved the vhs tutorial that came with the mixer, check it out a few times, it helps. Below is a link to the Tascam digital mixers bbs, do a search there for lots mo' info.

I just got a tm d1000 and a da 38.
Being a novice I would like to get my hands on the vid you mentioned.
Just poking around with this gear doesn't accomplish anything, and the manual is just too advanced for a person not familiar with the language.
There is an online walk-through tutorial that helps, but not enough.

Thanks.
8 years?
I guess that tells me a little about the age of this gear I just got.
It was unused in the original box, and came from a music store that was closing up.
The TM D1000 and DA 38 set me back $500.

doesn't matter. don't get discouraged because someone tells you that you must have the latest and most expensive gear available. complete and utter BS.

do you have the mixer connected to the DA 38?

Yes, I have the Tm D1000 connected to my D38 with, what looks like a printer cable.
TDIF-1 on both units.

Yep.
The other day, I managed to record a sample track using the buss-out setting.
Played it back.
Sounds crystal clear.
That's as far as I got.
It took me a while to do it, and I don't think it was the best way to record something.
I had to mess with the mixer a lot.

I could not get a signal into the deck using direct out.

If you are willing to help walk me through some of this, send me a PM and I will just give you my phone #.

Thanks a bunch.

are you using an amp simulator like a pod or something or an amp? if it's an amp sim that has 1/4" outs you're going to go out of the amp and into the mixer, then into the da 38. you'll just need to tell the mixer which output the mixer needs to send the signal from.

answer the amp/sim question first, then we'll move on. i ain't gonna be up for much longer so i'll probably need to pick this back up tomorrow.

I am using a PX3 Pandora.
Like a pod or whatever.

I am away from the gear at the moment, but I am listening...

I have to log off too, for now, but any info you post will be appreciated.
Thanks again.

bump this tomorrow so i don't forget. won't be home until the evening.
