Mixing Rap Vocals?

i just found out i dont really need to EQ My Vocals...
i disabled eqs on vocalsin 1 of my projects n played with the level volume.. it sounds much better now

Though, to be fair, that doesn't mean you don't need to EQ your vocals, but rather that the EQ adjustments you were making were hurting rather than helping.

For kicks, go back and anywhere you had a cut, boost a dB or two and see what happens. It may sound like shit, but you may have correctly identified areas where something was going on in the vocal, but that you could have strengthened by bringing out more than cutting. Alternately, maybe try cutting in those same spots, but not nearly so much - say, if you were cutting -8db in a frequency band, change that cut to -1. The problem could have been just that you were cutting TOO much.
