I just bought one of the newer ones and I was just looking for some back story. I've heard the older ones are more prized, I believe the older ones were 6.5" but I could be off. Mines 5" and I just put some puresound wires on it and it sounds excellent. Just a bit curious if anyone had insight on these babies.

Thanks,
-Barrett

They are available in both 5 and 6.5 inches. I believe I've seen 3 inch ones too. The old ones are more prised for the same reason that the old supraphonics are more prised. That is a really nice sounding drum.

Cool, I figured it was just like any other instrument (the older the better) But I orginally bought because I was walking through the drum section of guitar center with a stick and I was just hitting drums (I'm not a drummer) and when I hit this "black snare" I grabbed it, brought it to the counter and told the cashier that I wanted it, it was love at first sound.

Thanks for the info!

That's an awfully expensive snare to be buying on a whim. Good for you.

It records very nicely as well.

Haha yeah I'm not normally the impulse buyer type, but for the last 5 months or so I've been hearing a snare drum in my head, "the perfect snare drum" and when I hit it it just matched. I just couldn't ignore that.

I bought the drum about 2 months ago and have only grown to appreciate more
