I know there are many other kinds and styles of guitar out there, but I find many people prefer one over the other. If you prefer a guitar that is similiar to either Fender or Gibson, you can vote accordingly. Basically what I am asking is what general style do you prefer, long scale single coil Fender style or short scale humbucker Gibson style. Thanks for participating!

Coffee or Tea? Red Sox or Yankees? Oreos or Hydrox? Republican or Democrat? Coke or Pepsi?

Ask a million people, you'll get a million answers. Aside from the Yankees fans who are just plain wrong, it's all a matter of personal opinion, and at least on guitar boards "Fender vs Gibson" has been done to death. Hell, I'm sure there's at least 6 identical threads here.

So, are you just trying to boost your thread count, or trolling?

My advice to anyone else who sees this is to ignore it, and for the mods to just close it and save us all the trouble.

Hey Pete, how about a mix of the two? We can call it a Fendson!

Oh Em Gee, Victory Pete, I bet no one on this board has ever before stopped to ponder whether or not they prefer Gibson or Fender guitars, but thanks to your thoughtful and insightful question we will now assuredly have a polite, intelligent, and constructive debate on the relative merits of both producers, one that will be certain not to deteriorate into vapid brand loyalty, and will leave us all feeling refreshed, enlightened, and graced by your subtle intellect. Positively amazing, my good man, your contributions to the betterment of guitar knowledge will be praised by generations to come.

He is asking a specific question. He is in fact NOT asking if you like Coffee or Tea? Red Sox or Yankees? Oreos or Hydrox? Republican or Democrat? Coke or Pepsi? This question is for two types of guitars and NOTHING more.

Aye, but the question is just as broad and divisive, and impossible to objectively prove one way or another, as any of the ones that followed, and as such it's kind of a waste of time, to say nothing of a VERY well-beaten dead horse.

You can make a Strat sound like a Les Paul, but you can't make a Les Paul sound like a Strat.

On one hand Fenders are really great guitars and on the other hand Gibsons are really great guitars too.
Hope this helps.

My answer for all these questions is the exact same as the poll answer: Other.

Hate coffee and tea, despise the Sox and the Yankees (Go Tribe), not a cookie person (desserts in general, really), hate all politicians, and Prefer Dr. Pepper, thank you.

Over the many years I've been playing, I've owned several Gibsons and several Fenders, presently I have none of either. For the past couple of years I have been stirctly a fan of Ibanez and Hamer guitars. I do still preferr my Fender Twin amp but that's something for a different thread.
