mbox/interface help

Hi recently i bought a new mac, osx 10.6.1, havnt installed anything additional. i found out that an mbox wont work with the new mac, i want a good interface for 300 or under but eevryone refers me to an mbox. now i cant use it because its not compatible. please help ? any good alternatives ?
