I had a rock band in the mid-70s thru the mid-80s that had a few minor hits.
I had a great band, but the better players began leaving in 1980 (due to my heavy drinking & cocaine use).
My record label didn't like my 1981 LP release and decided to drop my act, but I sued them and finished out my contract. (2 more albums)
My live act was still profitable so I was given a loan of $300,000 for a new road P.A./lighting system.
My cocaine habit was left unchecked and my manager looked the other way as I spent most of the $300,000 on "other things".
After nearly 2 years on the road, I had neglected to pay for the P.A./lighting and it was repossessed. My manager informed me I was bankrupt and quit as my manager.
Now, without a recording contract or a band, no manager and a bad drug habit, I was forced to join another band and they attached my name (Featuring "Me") to draw more attention to the band. But I was not happy and within a year or two, I left to reform my old band with the old bass player.
I never regained my past glory and as the 90s dragged on, my prominence faded. The band still had a cult following, but it has since dwindled. The album releases during this time (on a small label) went virtually unnoticed.
In this decade, I've done a few things, but nothing worth noting.
I'm now playing in a cover band in my hometown area, doing old classic rock tunes.
Who am I?
