Grumpy Mod
Sometimes I read lyrics, and they have an immediate resonance with me.

This happened with, for example, Up-fiddler's Mississippi.

This time it is Icystorm's Winter Eyes that has trapped my attention.

So I had some fun fitting it to music.

Excuse voice, but the music sounds fine to me:

...

this song is "done", and I should think an artist that wants to do an original Adult Contemporary tune would purchase it...

Once I hear geck singing the song, I find myself remembering Laura Branigan, and imagining HER doing it in my head as Geck sings it. Not with that H-U-G-E voice she was known for... she often did a song or two on every album that was very soft and bittersweet... like this one...

for the purposes of "sale-ability", this song is perfect... it needs shopped around...

Hummm... this collaboration bore some very bittersweet fruit.

Sorry....

....I'm still out of town and can't listen on this machine. I'll be back after Thanksgiving and give it an ear.....or two. I recorded my
Challenge entry the other night on my Zoom H2 handheld that I take when I'm away from home. These little buggers do nice work for what they are. I think due to time constraints what I have here on my handheld will end up being my entry in final form.

On the contrary about the voice - the harmonies are very melodic.
Your music is well recorded.
I am quite envious how you get your highish levels without clipping.

Mike, great job, my friend! I really like it! You never cease to amaze me. Thanks for that!

I really wish I could play and produce to even half of your skill level. You have a great deal of talent.

Cheers,
Joseph

This is great.

The restraint to bring in the drums is well received by me.

I like it all.

The world weary vox match the words like sun melts the snow.

The part that is genius is the double off tempo on "each of us pine."

Props to the lyricist.

Props to the producer.

This is the essence of home recording.

Another winner for my iPod. Fantastic job, Geck. I can't express how much I love your voice (or your "usual croak" as you put it). It fits this song perfectly. Excellent work on the melody - I'm a huge fan of maj7 chords.

I found the arrangement to be very Alan Parsons-ish. Which I love.

Geck seems to me like Kim Carnes' Australian cousin, lol

Ummmm... You misspelled "Bonnie Tyler". Heh.

Seriously, I could easily imagine a three-part harmony trio of Mike, Bonnie, and Kim.

Mike, you get the middle. ;-)

Cheers,
Joseph
