Anybody know the main differences between a 3340S and a 40-4? Am I right that the 40-4 has much more in common with the A3440?

The 40-4 replaced the 3340 in the series and was under the Tascam brand. It has more in common with the 80-8 than the 3340 as far as transport and operation goes. It's a step up performance and ruggedness wise. Good machine. This is a VERY good price (assuming it's in good shape)

1/4" tape 7 1/2 - 15 IPS. The 80-8 was fixed 15 IPS.
