I dont have any equpiment or very much know how, but i write songs and im tired of losing them in my head, think theyd translate well in lo-fi recording. Any help please?
There is no black-box solution to "low fi". My suggestion: just go out and buy an entry level interface (couple hundred bucks) and a few basic mics and record the songs as best you can. The lack of engineering experience and less-than-stellar equipment will give you all the low-fi you'll ever need.
I bought a portable Sony radio/cassette with a built in mic new for $20 and it sounds amazingly good. I've never heard anything from Sony that sounded horrible.
Just make sure it has a built in mic 'cause some don't.
Portastudio all the way. Tascam made some great ones. I love my 488mkII. Using that and TRYING to get good recordings will give some nice lo-fi sounds.
