sample triggering

hello everyone,
im really new to midi and im wondering how i could trigger a sample i made using my midi keyboard. is there some program i would use?

i did some searching and couldnt find much concerning my question. i'd be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

That would be a sampler..

Should be a fair amount of free/shareware ones at KVR or hardware ones are dirt cheap these days also.
