Ive been cleaning 78rpm records for the past few days. Anyway, Im feakin sick of cleaning them, so I fired up my DAW and did some recording. It started as a simple little rhythm guitar track and a few hours later, this is what came out the other end. The mix is rough and it needs some work (levels, timing issues fixed, automation,etc..), plus some lyrics. Plus maybe some weird synth stuff. :) Should I continue working on it or should I dump it. Any ideas welcome. Remember where there is suppose to be lyrics, there isnt any, so during the verse parts it may bore some. Thanks for the listen Joey. After letting my ears rest some, I need to tighten things up as usual :) , remix what I have, and see where it stands. Its kinda boring with no vocals. Then again it may be boring with them. :) But it was nice to fire up the rusty computer and mixer.
 
To me sounds great, i didn't like to much the delay/chorus (i think are those effects) on the guitars, they are too loud, but is just a taste thing... anyway, great job man... i'm waiting for the vocals, otherwise, as you said, it's a little boring.

Actually on the guitars I used my Boss GT8 direct into my mixer. Its some stereo preset. I used both the left and right outputs of the Boss unit into the first two mic preamps on my mixer which have a di switch for hi z. I was just switching through the presets on the Boss and thaught it sounded kind of cool.
 
Man, this sounds cool. Still listening. The first thing that comes to mind is you've GOT to get a girl to sing whatever lyrics you come up with. The nastier, the better. :D

Thanks Chili. I guess I could get my daughter to do it. So I have to gear the lyrics towards a girl ? hmmm. I need to have her write some. I need to get the drums fixed. I should not have posted it till I had the timing worked out, and the drums beefed up. But I didnt know if I should continue with it or not.
 
Sounds pretty good. The toms sound great. It sounds kind of like a lot of other stuff though, so however you develop it, try give it some kind of something to make it stand out from all the other 80's blues rockers.

Will do. Hope to play some more with it this weekend. But my daughters car has an intermitant cylinder miss we need to track down and that will probably consume my free time this weekend. She drove the mini-van to school today and that was too imbarassing. So she has to find the problem and fix it and dad has to supervise.

Thanks for the listen. Ive been getting that Black Velvet thing alot. Hope to get back on it soon.
 
Sounds like a cool driving song. Ya a girl with raspy sexy voice.

Thanks Chili. The bass was just DI'd into the mixer with alot of compression to tame my bad playin :) Usually doesnt sound that dirty, but it did this time. I did just use the bridge pick up on it. Maybe that gave it the grit. I ususally use both the neck and bridge.
 
oh yeah he is hot!:D your song actually sounded better, only in a different form. songs like yours & others here have given me hope for the sound i wanted to achieve through homerecording someday, honestly i've almost literally been in tears sometimes thinking if nomatter what i did i still couldn't get a great sound through an mp3, maybe remotely if recorded somewhere out of my house, but you are proof that it can be done. you probably don't realize what it means to me, enough cheese totally excellent song/sound!:)

Thanks, means alot. But, I still think I stink !!! Better than I was a few years ago. I thinkk. The remix will be better.
 
Added some more verb to the drums and remixed it. I felt since the guitar was very spacey that the drums were too dry. Did I add too much ? I guess its a matter of taiste. I sort of like that big room sound. Let me know it I should back it off some.
