ZOOM HD12 recording test

Hi, I've found in a forum this message "I had a hard time deciding between the Tascam 2488 and the Zoom HD16CD. I decided on the Zoom for its 8 mic/line inputs. However, I found later that it is virtually impossible to simultaneously record 8 instruments/vocals in a home studio and produce a quality recording. There is just too much bleed through between the instruments and vocals." Please, anyone, having the ZOOM HD 16, can make the test simultaneously recording 8 tracks? I'm interested to buy it, but for me will be very important to work with all 8 track at time on recording.

this isn't necessarily a problem with the zoom.. that's going to happen to anything, especially if you're recording a whole band at once in a smaller space. you can tame it with gobos, but you'd probably be better off recording the vocals separate.
 
Thanks Braden, you helped me to understand the problem of the original post. My english is very basical (I write from Italy) and I was thinking about some technical problem with the ZOOM inputs, now I understand that "There is just too much bleed through between the instruments and vocal" is due to the conseguences of mic positioning... right?
 
You have purchased an excellent machine which also serves as a control surface for editing on the computer.
The only reason I didn't buy one myself is that it's only 16 bit. Other than that, tremendous!
Not only mic placement, Kether but the types of microphones you are using.
Also, a little bleeding won't hurt your recording. You may even be able to use it to your advantage. Drums would be a serious problem though.

Bleed will always be a problem unless you isolate the inputs using techniques such as acoustic foam, recording booths, etc.
