Loved it. It's definitely one of the more unique songs I've heard come out of this forum, and since I haven't listened to any of your previous stuff, I can't comment there, but on all levels - kudos, man.

The production was top-notch. I love the sound of your snare. Drums are tight.

Two things were noticeable, though - not deal breakers, but I thought I'd mention em'...

1. Your snare seems to be off to the left. If that's the way you want it, rock on.

2. To my ears, your toms have almost no resonance at all. Seems like all the resonance is fabricated through the reverb. This definitely creates a unique sound, but to my ears, they sound a bit flat or flimsy. If there's any way to get more body out of em', it'd help a bit, in my opinion.

Great tune. Fantastic production.

This is my favorite song of yours. Love the vocals at 3:46. Nice complexity.
Thanx buddy. Favorite? Wow. That's nice to hear.
Thursday arvo - just home from work & found a RAMI tune to play...
A real TOOL intro - & then Wham RAMI funk'n'rock!
The melody for "To wash away the bitter (?)..." is pure Beatle.
The slightly exotic solo section is cool.
Harmonies are rich & interesting.
The slower parts really suck me in waiting for the next change.
Well done on so many levels mate.
Thanx Ray. Careful with the Beatles references. I don't want Greg to change his mind and start hating the tune. :D
Love the groove of this one, Rami!
Great singing and and harmonies, wonderful performance. The guitars have a beautiful tone, but I find they could be a little angrier and grittier. But it's still great as it is. No need to comment on the drums, we all know what you're capable of. Totally kick-ass tune and another Rami classic!

Joey :):):):)
Thanx a lot Joey. You're right about the guitars, and you're not the first to mention it in this thread. I've been reading a lot about recording guitars, since I'm never really happy with my guitar sounds. A lot of the advice on layering guitars is to lay back on the distortion. Either I'm laying back too much, or I don't like that theory.:D

My insticts told me to use a heavier sound, but I went against them. :(

Thanx Poetic. I really appreciate the comments. Something weird is happening with my drums in this song. I took my studio kit to a gig, since my other kit was already at another gig, and it seems that gremlins got into my set up. Ever since I brought them back and recorded this tune, weird things have occurred with the panning and overall sound. I'll have to look into that.

Thanx again for all the help.

I can't taste or smell anything either.

I didn't want to say anything, but yeah; the mix tastes too salty. :D

Really good song here.

I like the tom heavy breakdowns near the end, but I agree that the tom tone isn't the best. They could stand a little less attack and a little more body.

That's my only complaint, and it's a pretty minor one. Really good song here.

Thanx alot Steve. I think I overcompressed the toms to get some attack, or I should have lowered the release time so they would still ring. Either way, I fucked up. :D

Thanx alot for the listen and comments, dude.

Love the intensity of this the quick stops and starts are cool....I never feel qualified to nit your recordings cause they are totally what I would love to do on my own if I could....tight, crunchy and punchy...break down thing around 2:42 is sweet! Its really cool to hear good rock still out there!!!

Listened four times already, to try and convince myself that the snare isn't too loud... But I just can't do it! I guess I'll chalk it up to personal preference, because the consensus says bring it up!

Awesome tune though!!

As near to perfect as I've heard...except that the guitars don't have tooth and bite. Kinda mid/muddy. Specifically, the rhythms they play don't sound their transients to compliment the drum/bass figures. Not a real awful thing, but that third element would add a lot of oomph. Over the top.
Love your time and accuracy.

Exactly on both counts. I love it when others say what I would have.

Good tune, R ... well constructed.

Rami - you have written another fabulous song. Recording is consistently superb as well. I have a hard time picking out anything that needs changing and it's usually always a personal preference rather than a problem.

Ever thought about submitting these to Taxi? You've got the goods I think they're looking for. A bit pricey to find out for sure but if you have a few bucks I would definitely take the plunge. I'd love to see you get the recognition you deserve... Remember ESPSkully guy from Calgary - he had a bunch of success with WWE soundtracks. Just sayin'...

;);););)

Thanx, man. You might be right about the snare. I've re-mixed the tune a few times since the original post, so it's possible that I brought up the snare too much since then.

Thanx a lot Ido. I've heard good and bad things about TAXI. Not sure I'd give them my money. But maybe I should do a little more research on them. Thanx for the compliments, brother.

This is typical Rami! Great breaks, vox, bgv's, production, the works! I'd have to agree about the toms, though. They seem to not have a lot of meat to them, at least not what I'm used to hearing from you. I kind of get the same feeling about the kick, but that could just be me.

Man, you just keep getting better and better!!!!!

With Taxi, you get a one year money back guarantee. Spend the money, if you don't like it, get your money back. Someday, when I get my tracks as good as yours, I'll join up.

Why don't you post something that needs a little work? The song is your usual standard. You rock.

Thanx a lot Jeff. Yeah, I screwed the toms up. Oh well. Not much I can do about it now.

Cool, Chil. I'll look into it. Thanx, man.

Hehe...Thanx Dodge. This actually did need some work. You're hearing the 3rd or 4th re-mix. I made changes as time went on, based on the advice I got in this thread. Thanx a lot for the compliment, buddy.

Very cool tune. Awesome performance.

My only thing is I would have liked the guitars on the main riff to snarl a bit more... but they still sound great the way they are.

Thanx Matt!

(hehe...a week later...I forogt about this thread once it was on page 2)

I'm liking the vibe in this...

Definately a hint of a Cardiacs influence there :)

After listening, I'm actually not thinking that I want that five minutes of my life back. That's a pretty cool tune man. I might actually listen again. There is enough going on here to keep it interesting without getting too flighty. Something about the vocal style reminds me of that old Helmet song, Unsung, that was on MTV like twenty years ago but better. I agree with supercreep that it's totally off the hook @:340ish. How do you do that? I know you're not really a good vocalist. lol.

Great, thanx man.

Who??? I'll have to check them out.

The stopping and starting for a beat or two near the beggining, that's something that the Cardiacs used to do all the time, they basically invented that way of playing.

Thanx a lot, Nave. And it's great to see you here, out of the Cave. I really appreciate the comments.

As far as the vocals go, that's all me and I don't use any type of auto-tune. Either way, you're still right about me not being that good a vocalist. :D
