we don't need rest!!
I've heard the DiscMakers mastering service kinda are poor. Anyone used http://www.rodneymills.com/ ? I've not found anything negative about him.

And of course, they're the people that frequent here too.

But, really interested in hearing comments about Rodney.

btw, this is 80's sounding rock (female vocals with rock guitars).

I know this one place...

Seriously though, I don't know anything bad about Rodney either...

I wouldn't pay any attention to blanket statements like that. Mastering results are entirely dependent upon the quality of the mix sent in. In other words, garbage in, garbage out. I am sure all mastering houses have produced both good results and poor results based on what they have received.

Years ago, one local band I was in had used DiscMakers. Our CD translated well on most systems. But then, we used a mix engineer who had good experience and a good control room.

Simply having a great oven will not make the chef create perfect meals.

Massive Master isn't allowed to tout his own services (except in his sig), but I can do it for him. If you're coming to this site to ask for which mastering engineer to send your work to, you should give first consideration to the mastering engineers who frequent this board and provide professional contributions. Massive has done the most for us Home Recordists.

There's another floating around and I can't think of his name right now. :o But a quick browse through the Mixing/Mastering section should yield his name. Then there's MasteringHouse.com. The owner was a frequent contributor as well. Haven't seen him in a while.

peace.

+1 for Massive Mastering. It's the only place I trust with my stuff.

He didn't quote me, but I'm pretty sure he was referring to what I said. I couldn't remember Tom Waltz's name.

No, No. He was talking to the original poster.

Wait! Or was it me he meant?

Yes, it was definitely all of the above.

Or else he posted in the wrong thread.

(I think.)

I've heard some good things about Rodney. I think he does a lot of southern rock stuff and is in Atlanta.

A lot of guys will do a test for ya, so that might be a good option. Just let who ever you choose to work with know what you are looking for and consider that the more personal attention you get the better, which might not be the case with discmakers.

Tom - somehow I didn't realize you were in the Boston area until I checked out your website, which is sort of crazy considering it says "Boston, MA" next to your user name. :p Cool!

And to give props where props is due...

Tom is doing some very nice work for me as we speak.... with good rates. ;)

which reminds me....

BACK TO WORK, TOM!!

:D :D
