I have a Motu 828 MKII And another Pres, the question is how do you connect it? Did you connect it via USB and use the "Modeling" Pres on the Software or Just like any other Pre (The Mic in the Front and the Output into the Main Audio interface? How get better Results?

That kinda depends on your DAW's ability to recognize multiple soundcards. If you try and use the UX2 alongside the MOTU, you'll probably get driver/hardware complaints. The MOTU probably has input attentuation, whereas the UX2 does not. Witht the MOTU you could actually adjust the guiter level signal BEFORE it hits the software (I've found that a nice pre helps my guitar tone, and the static level of the UX2 does not always produce enough grunt for other guitar software). I would also argue that the MOTU has better converters than the UX2 if price is any indicator.

To sum up, I would run guitar into the MOTU and use the UX2 only in the capacity as a dongle for the VST plugin inside your DAW environment.

Just my $.02.

I forgot to mention that i am using Cubase SX3 Can i use the Modelig Mic pres as VST Plug in?

I have the UX8 and I use it as a front end for a Tascam 2488 neo...the best recomendation would be to just use it in place of the MOTU unit while tracking...or install gearbox on your laptop and use it as a front end to the MOTU.

Well...I have a seperate laptop I use for web surfing...no internet for the DAW cept for upgrades.

Thanks Darrin. That's What i was thinking about.I'll Install the UX8 on my Laptop!

IDK if cubase is one of the programs that meshes with the Line6...but Abelton does...and Ill bet the MOTU does too....plus a free version came with mine at the time.

I really don't like the Idea of switching my DAW but, i'll use it with my laptop.:D

Abeltons not necesserally a switch but rather another tool in your arsenal..I use LIve and Sonar..Live's workflow, especially through the scene view, offers a different way to stimulate the creative juices...you can either rewire it to your main DAW or if its on the laptop just transfer the project over...I also use a Line6 toneport with it as my main interface after running everything through a mixer..

Anyway its well worth the small amount of time to learn and is really worth the effort imo due to its different approach...though with Sonars new matrix view maybe ole Live will be a thing of the past ;)

It doesn'tcame with the Ableton Live just with the Gearbox .I used to have the KB37 but i wasn't used the mic pres because i was more focused on Guitar and Programing Stuff.I did a small test yesterday with the BLUE Blueberry (For Sale tough) and the AT4050 and I have to say that the MIC PRE models are Awesome!:D

My Question is: Is that any way to use the unic only As a Mic pre without using the Gearbox, Iwas tring yesterday but didn't have any sound without the USB and GB Software.

No...gearbox is what makes it work...however there is a clean setting that can work if you want to just have a wire with sound.
