I just registered for the free (for first 500 members) backstage pass. It didn't ask for credit card info and I seem to have access, so looks legit so far!

The website looks cool...it's very well done.

I watched the theramin tutorial....now I might have to get a theramin...been wanting one for a long time.

I have to say...I was a bit surprised at how many mouse clicks and menu pull-downs he had to do just to cut/past/crossfade 4 sections of audio!

Hopefully the tutorials will get a bit deeper and go beyond the 101 stuff.

From the Backstage Pass....

"Burt Bacharach...hokey, beautiful love songs...anybody can do that"...

Yeah...right...anybody can do that! :D

"It takes a certain manic to write music that is almost unlistenable"...

I think he has it backwards! :)

I bought an Alesis AirFx a few years back...but Id love a kit.

Am I the only one who found the theremin guy to be a complete phony douchebag...
I agree. He seemed like a bit of a douche and the whole show seemed like a shameless plug for Moog. It felt completely contrived. I wonder who will be playing what Moog instrument in the next show if they ever make it past the pilot.

I noticed too that it seemed to be all about Moog...but theres nothing wrong with that if you can learn from it.

I think Moog also financed the Dream Weaver album for Gary Wright...awesome record btw.

The episode was sponsored by Moog.

Of course it's gonna feature Moog products.

DUH!

However, I think they spent their money much more wisely on their other web efforts. Nice demo of what you can do with $1500 of Moog gear.

But the production values of the episode are lacking. Especially the part wasting half of the video with a bunch of nonsense about tele-transporting toilets.

And that guy Nasty Ned looks like he needs to report to his PO for a piss test.

Um.... it didn't occur to me until later...... but where exactly are the recording tips in that clip???

They didn't say anything about the signal chain, mic placement, why they used an amp instead of a DI, or anything else for that matter that pertained to recording save the guy explaining he had a flag for the punch-in loop.

My hunch is that the episode was aimed more at potential advertisers than home recordists, They are very clear on their site that they will promote products in exchange for advertising and this was a good example of that. But I have nothing to do with that show, so how would I know. I have my own recording show to try and keep straight.

I have my own recording show to try and keep straight.

Which is a tough thing to do in LA

This does give me an idea..."9 to 5" had a typewriter..."Money" had a cash drawer...micing a toilet might just be an original idea.

I've been a musician for 40 years and home recording for 12 years or so, researching and studying audio engineering for just as long and I need to say that your instructional videos are the best produced and enjoyable of any I've ever seen.

Thank you so much and keep up the great work!

Thats because he gets right to the meat of the subject...and doesnt shoot any of the show while sitting on the can.

Also Advertising doesnt control the subject of the show...viewer suggestions do...so that makes the material more interesting...I watch every one as soon as I get the email.
