Hey gang,
I'm new around here, but I can see from reading through the forums a bit that there are many experienced folks that participate here so I am jumping into the fray.
I currently have Melodyne Essential which came with my mBox2 as part of the bundle. I'd like to upgrade to a more full-featured version of Melodyne. Basically, from the research I've done, it looks like I could:
a: upgrade to the Melodyne Plug-in for about $199
b: upgrade to Melodyne Cre8 for about $269
c: purchase Melodyne Studio on-line for about $325
I read the Celemony website and understand the basic differences between the three packages, but I thought it would be wise to check in with folks that have experience using some/all of these tools. Any limitations or factors that I should be aware of that may not be obvious at first glance?
I think the plug-in would do the job for me most of the time. Typically I would be working with one track (usually vocals) at a time and doing subtle pitch-correction. However, I could see where it would be nice to be able to import all of the backing vocals simultaneously and worth with them all in Cre8 or Studio...you could experiment with different harmonies, etc pretty easily and you could also time-align vocal phrases to tighten up harmony sections pretty quickly that way.
Any thoughts from experienced users?
Thanks for your time.
