Quick question about audio resizing

Hi I was just wondering how to resize an audio event. Sometimes i'm able to do it by clicking the bottom right corner and dragging the event to the correct size. Other times, instead of shortening or lengthening the audio event, it will just cut the audio to the point it has been dragged... or show more of the event (if trying to lengthen). So say I cut the event previously, it will just re add the parts I have cut.

I hope this makes sense. If not please let me know. But i'm wondering if there is a key to hold which will differentiate as to whether I want to keep the same audio event and just resize it, or re add the bits I have cut and so on.

Well, if you cut it up you have to use the 'cut' tool, while as with resizing it you just drag it to the correct length. What is it you need? Maybe you could use the keyboard shortcut to select the cut command.

The pointer arrow button on the toolbar at the top of the screen selects resizing. There's a little drop down arrow on the button that enables you to select whether resizing applies time strech, cuts the audio etc.

Thanks for your reply. I will try and find this button which allows me to choose.

I will explain the problem again though incase you can help me more.

Say I have a section of guitar audio and I have cut both ends off it so it is exactly the audio I want. Say I want to speed this up... so I want to resize it to make it smaller/faster (but still the exact same audio event). What I have found is sometimes when I drag the box at the bottom right hand corner it will just cut from the right hand side of that audio event until the moment I stop dragging. So now I have half of the audio event that I originally had, but all I wanted to do was shrink it.

Same goes if I want to make the event last longer. Instead of streching the event, it will just re add the bits I cut off the end in the first place.

I hope this makes more sense. If your above replies will help me with this problem please let me know.

Seriously. That's the answer. There is a toolbar at the top of the screen. One of the buttons on it has a picture of a mouse pointer. That button has a little triangle type pointing down arrow on it. You click on that and you can can choose what happens when you do what you're describing above. One of the options is to apply time strech.

There really isn't any way I can help you more. You could probably have saved yourself a bunch of typing if you looked at the button before posting the above response
