I'm trying to echo on certain words in my tracks. How do I do that without echoing the whole verse? I'm using PT 8 MBOX 2

If your recording in a DAW, just highlight the audiowave parts that you want echoed, choose your plugin and process that audio part.
If your doing it on a multitrack recorder, that's going to be a bit tougher. Your console would have to be automated. Best thing is if you just fly that whole audio track to your DAW and then just do what I said above, then fly it back to your multitrack recorder.
Seeing as he posted in the Pro Tools forum, I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest he's doing it in Pro Tools![]()
So just highlight the part I want to echo and use and effect from the audiosuite effects or RTAS effects or does it matter?

Excuse me for butting in but I too am having a similar problem automating a Massey demo plugin. I'm wanting to use the plugin only is some passages. I'm assuming that I could use the "bypass" button (after enabling automation) to turn the plug on and off. I haven't yet found any other way with nothing so far in PT Help. The Massey demo complicates that theory since there is no "bypass" option but that's another story.
Can I just draw the automation from the get go?
What effect us it?
As you pointed out, Massey demo's have no bypass function so if you're inserting say a compressor on a vocal track, there is no possible work around without really changing things..
It's THC and it sounds great on this track through one section. I've thought of a couple of work arounds like duping the track and trimming or muting one for just that section. Do you have an easier solution? So I can't just draw the automation? Oh and I'm assuming from your post that the "bypass" button is the proper way to use "on/off" during an automation pass?
you could put THC on an aux track, and automate an aux send to it. Remember - the Massey plugs won't recall your settings each time you open the session!
