Hi there

I know the mono/stereo question is common, but I haven't found an answer to this specific question. I'm finding that using a large diaphragm condenser mic by the soundhole with a small diaphragm near the bridge gives a really good sound on my acoustic guitar. As I prepare to record "for real" my inclination is to record two separate mono tracks, not one stereo track. Does that sound right or am I way off? Seems like I could have more and better mixing control between the two different mics with the separate tracks. Thanks for your help! :)

Definitely one mic per track, then you have all the options to mix them later.

Yeah same here. Same for kit pairs and such. Although there's plugs that'll do it I like the flexibility particularly for the ease of having balance + panning. Down side is double the plugs and routing otherwise.
In Sonar (any app I expect) I have 'group-linked' dual-mono track faders set in templates, and reverse-link on the pans for one-knob width control for tracks dedicated 'stereo pairs'.
