Final stages: any tips?

we're in the final stages of recording. we can't afford a master so we're going as far as we can with Cubase4 and firestudio. i'm just looking for any tips to make the final product sound better. mixing, levels, etc. anything would help
 
No that's not me...someone posted it on the Cakewalk forums...but that guy didn't write it either...but I agree with you...pretty nice guide.
 
Find a friend who also does some engineering, and have him master it for you.


The best way to end the project is to have someone with a different set of ears and speakers master it for you! (provided he's not deaf!!)
 
That article is amazing. It seems everything is either "let someone else master" or gives you the tips on how to MBC and limit the shit out of it.
