I had such fun with Dave's lyrics it would be great to arrange great lyrics like these as well. I just love the 'Cutter' lyric that it really calls out to me as a Chorus.

reminds me strongly of pop songs I grew up on in the 80's, something in the general melody reminds me of *something" I cant put my finger on, and the vocal sound, again, reminds me of a song or artist I can't put my finger on...

all of which makes me think you rather "nailed it".

I can "hear" a changeup inbetween sets of lyrics in the first break... and I seem to wanna hear a guitar solo (nothing crazy, just "adult contemporary" solo...) later on to separate lyrics.

one or more people said "smooth" and "flowing", and I'll second those thoughts....

these pop songs of yours are getting a certain "polish" to them, I would like to note... this one sounds like its a live version of somethign you hear on the radio...

2 thumbs up... you're a changeup and/or short tasteful solo away from a "hit sound" in my book. (I say "and or" cos one or the other, or both...)

I sometimes worry that I will inadvertently (and quite subconciously and unintentionally) rip off a Gibb song, since I'm influenced the most by their music. I usually run my songs by a couple of long-time Gibb fans to make sure my stuff is original and not plagarizing. It just wouldn't do to rip off one's music idol!

I agree with you, BTW, about the song needing a changeup or solo.

I also agree about the good tunes that came out of the 80s.

well... would I know this if I didnt? To wit:

Eh? note that those were all the "non radio hits" that only a fan would know the lyrics off by heart to, LMAO, 'cos any "chimp" can sing along to...

"a howl and a whine I'm after you" and "when you catch that mirror way out west, you look like somethin special and you look like your the best"

Duran Duran was one of the few bands that had "nonsensical, just because it rhymes well" lyrics that I really liked... a lot of it could mean whatever you wanted it to mean, which likely made it seem (be?) more artistic. I always thought many of the "non radio hits" were actually their best pieces.

I strongly agree. Lots of great album tracks. I remembered them all from the lyrics you posted.

"Too Late Marlene" was always a favorite too. "Love Voodoo" and "Hold me" were excellent too. I'm not sure if they were singles or not. By then, I was no longer listening to the radio.

Check out "Nice" in more recent years. Great track.
