Audix Cab Grabber

Yeah, cool but pricey. If I was gigging lots, and had a particular microphone I just had to use, I might poney up for one of those just so it would be ready to go & give me a quicker set-up. But still, it's hard to justify since you could buy two of these for that price:

I would think there may be diaphragm shaking issues attaching it to the cab like that, especially with a ribbon or condenser.

I dunno... I don't gig at all--and I'd still pony up for a couple (or a few). I've got 5 rigs in my studio, and I like to keep 'em all mic'd up and ready to go. I hate all the time wasted setting up. (And yeah, I do have the mics to keep em all mic'd up). But all the pedals & footswitches are on the floor fighting for the same space that the little mic stands need.

So it may seem exorbitant, but after the guitars & amps & mics, spending a little money on making life in the studio easier can be a good thing.

I hadn't thought of that...Guess it would depend on amount of volume, but I'd guess that on any halfstacks if you played something with a low frequency at even a low volume you would get some undesired effects... I like the mbstand better.
 
i have a couple of these now...I think they are great, 50 is a little steep, but they are sturdy on the right cab/amp...unfortunately these don't work so well on my tiny jazzmaster ultralight cab, but that cab really is small...

there's a vendor on ebay that sells 609s, I5s and 57s with a Cab Grabber and 20 ft cord for all the mics' regular prices...that's a great deal! it's worth getting em that way, IMO.

Hello and welcome... you'll like it here. So there isn't any issues with the mic vibrating?
 
I haven't had any noticeable issues with vibrations yet, but I haven't used them extensively yet. I'm going to be recording some bands pretty soon and i'll definitely try 'em out.

One complaint would be that the arm that holds the mic only moves laterally, not up and down, so it could be an issue getting the mic closer/further to the speaker on certain cabs. If you have a typical marshall/fender type amp, it shouldn't be an issue.

hmmm.... well very cool. I'm in the process of selling the only halfstack I have left though, so I guess I won't really be needing one of these, but I wish I had one before.

Not sure what you mean. Does the arm rotate and go in or out?

It rotates, but doesnt go in and out...makes it more complicated for placing flat mic like the 609/906s and condensers.
