Heya, all ... first post, and I'm looking for some advice.
I started with home recording almost 10 years ago when I got a used Portastudio 246 4-track. Before long, I moved on to Cool Edit with the four-track plugin ... and on to Audition 1.5.
As it stands now, I'm a little stuck when it comes to what I imagine I want to do and what I think I can do with what I have now.
I use Audition for audio, and ReWire FL Studio for drums and occasional synth sounds. It just feels a little clunky to have sound and midi floating around that way, and it feels like enough of a headache to program and arrange the drums that I avoid recording anything because of the hassle.
I'm sure there's a single solution that'd integrate the drum programming, midi, VSTi functionality and so on ... without being too much of a logical leap for my brain ... and work with my gear. And, I imagine, the bright minds here will have just the solution.
So, here's what I'm working with:
- PC with XP SP3, AMD Sempron 3000+ at 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe board
- M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 sound card
- Behringer Xenyx mixer output to KRK Rockit monitors
- yamaha keyboard with midi
- guitars & bass
- microphones including SM57, Beta58, Apex435 etc.
- Line6 PodXT with Podfarm plugins
To recap: I've loved using Audition ... but I'd love to be able to work with the step sequencer functionality of FL, drag-and-drop-(and-edit-later-of-course) drum functionality of EZDrummer, and mix the whole shebang in one program.
Thoughts?
All the best,
