Cubase LE just getting started

I'm new at home recording....I have a Lexicon Omega and Cubase LE. Cubase seems to have loaded properly...but...I look in the device menu for "Drivers"...and I don't see "Asio".....should I be looking somewhere else? Secondly.....I've tried to record a vocal track....and it is barely audible when I play it back. My only resource has been the booklet that came with the gear. Also.....Is it possible to enhance the vocals(reverb etc) using the Lexicon and Cubase....if I'm trying to record to a Karaoke site(Singsnap etc). Any direction you can provide....would be much appreciated....Thanks
 
I would guess that since you can hear the playback (even if its faint), you have the equipment installed correctly. If you didn't hear anything or get any signal, then I would think otherwise. But perhaps you have an issue with a pre-amp signal or something like that going into your board. I am sure you have checked your gain going in, right?

Yes, you can add all kinds of FX... actually, I think on LE you can only add 2 per track. But if you set up an FX track and use the FX sends, that will help you. Add, reverd, compressions, etc as you see fit.

If you look on the Cubase LE CD, there are a couple of manuals.

One is 'getting started', and the other is a more detailed manual.. might even be a hundred or so pages.

I printed them, put em in a binder, read them... and have to re-read them soon i think. lol

As for the ASIO driver... if you can't find it, Cubase LE works with the Asio4all driver (google it and download it if you need it)

As for reverbs and stuff.. yes Cubase LE can do that.

Good luck.. for me it has just been getting past one little hurdle at a time. lol
 
Thanks for the info....much appreciated.....I'll take the slow approach...and see how it goes.......there doesn't seem to be eneough hours in the day....to get involved with it....there's a ton of stuff.....but......it'll be fun...once I get it off the ground....and can do some decent recording...thanks again!

Amen to that. What mic and preamp are you using, how are you monitoring and what levels are your meters when you're recording?

easy enough to understand, but they are now a most inconvenient device.
no repairs/service available, parts etc.. not happnin. not practical at all.

so, my question is: HOW HARD can Cubase LE really be? is it anywhere
near the learning curve of Nuendo? any tips or feedback much appreciated.
