Recording keys.

I have a recording session comming up this weekend.

Were gonna keyboards for a few songs.

we`ll be using VSTi`s but we will send through and amp before trackin em.

I thought about using a Roland Jazz Chorus as the amp, or an AER Alpha.

Mics I have available are, Some LDC`s and some SDC`s pluss sm 57, and B52.

wich would you use?

Btw we`ll record sounds sutch as Rhoeds, Organ B3, Mellotron and some moog stuff.

Why are you asssuming you'll want to record amp'ed keys?

If you have the time, it's always good to experiment, but recording keys direct is typically the way to go (except for micing real rotating speakers and special effect distortions).

Because I think Direct keys, and vst sounds like ass together with normally recorded Instruments files

Really? Are you doing some grungy garage rock and trying to capture old school distorted farfisa/vox/wurly elect sounds?

I`m tryin to cature some ol mellotron, rhodes and b3, and the vsti, or the direct nord stuff is to clean
