Spleen Arcana
Hi everyone!

I read this board very often so I thought I could write something about my project here :)

I just upload my first "homemade" album online. You can download it for FREE just by clicking on this link: http://www.spleenarcana.com/download/1

My project is called Spleen Arcana (http://www.spleenarcana.com to know more). It sounds like prog rock (but not really technical) with vintage sounds (Mellotron, Minimoog, Hammond). I play guitars/bass/keyboards and sing and a good friend play the drums.

I hope you'll enjoy it! Thanks for listening and reading anyway ;)

I downloaded the 192 version.
Interesting - a good web site too.
I'll comment when I've listened a couple of times.

You mean the 128 version I guess ;)

Thank you so much, I hope you'll enjoy it!! :)

What kind of music do you like?

Dude, this sounds fricking awesome!!
Are you selling this?

What are you using for the Mellotron sounds?

Oh thanks a lot!!

Actually, I'm only selling a 320kbps version (included digital stuffs) here: http://www.spleenarcana.com/shop/

I'm not sure yet if a "physical" cd will be available, maybe if feedbacks are not too bad ;)

For Mellotron, I use my favorite VSTi which is the M-Tron ;)

okay, so i'm very curious to listen to this! but unlike you guyz.. i still have 3rd world country internet!! so for me to download a file that big will cost me my bread and supper !! couldn't u break it down ??

Thanks.

I listened again last night.
the intro vocal effects are a little OTT but OK. SOME of the guitar is a little too modern metal for my taste - aggressive fizzy distortion.
The 1st track reminded me of a fantastic Greek prog/psych band called Will O The Wisp.
The album is really good - the girlie bvox help out and the drummer - added towards the end I assume - works very sympathetically - in contrast the one song that stood out as still retaining a programmed drum track lacked propulsion & bottom end - I felt it needed some real kick drum thud. The song works in & of itself but could be improved.
You ought to investigate a limited run of CDs because I'd never be able to download the high qual version unless it was on rapid etc in a few packages I could do over a couple of weeks & then the compression process would negate some of the quality.
Very good work.
Congratulations.

Thank you so much for listening and commenting!! I have never heard of Will O The Wisp!! I have to listen to them, by the way, I don't know any Greek prog band so, I take this chance... :)

Oh yes, the loop is a choice but it can be discussed for sure. I like loops sometimes maybe it's weak for this song, I don't really know.

About download, you're right I think 100 mo is still huge even today... The 39 mo of the free 128kbps version are ok but the quality is not that good. Physical cds could be released if it worth it ;) you're not the first one to tell me about this, so...

Thank you very much again :)

There is a large cohort of Greek Pysh/prog: go back to Aphrodite's Child who were big in France (esp their double LP 666), Akrita, Will O' the Wisp, etc . The blog Lost In Tyme http://lost-in-tyme.ucoz.com/
is based in Greece & features squillions of great bands & quite a few are Gk. You should also send you stuff/links to 2 mspace sites - Your Psych Tunes http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=120939871

& Psychedelic Velveeta http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=12253844

- both feature pod castes & rotation of featured bands - you could tap into a large audience that is in the same musical space as you.

cool stuff. good variety of sounds. Do you plan on staying solo or are you looking to start a band?

Thank you very much!! I plan to start a band (I played in a band before) but it's hard to find musicians unfortunately! But I'd love to play with this drummer!!

Rayc > Thanks! I remember now Aphrodite's Child, with Vangelis on keyboards, it's the sole one I know, thanks a lot for the links I'll check them for sure!! Thanks

Not really my taste in music, but it all sounds very good! You've got a nice studio as well:)

Great work and good luck!

Just wanted to drop a note to say I really enjoyed "The Missing Piece"....love the acoustic guitar sound you have captured....Reminds me a bit of Vintage Spocks Beard (Neal Morse version).
Great job!
