Can't understand why nobody's commented on this one yet...
This is fantastic! Great guitar work and love the guitar sound. Is it an amp sim? Love the drum sound too. Wonderful musicianship and well done! ;)
Hope you post more!

Cheers
Joe :):)

no amp sim....thats a Carvin Legacy Tube amp. The drums are Toontrac EZdrummer software.

Thanks for the comment!, im digging the song too......BUT....

i noticed the bass guitar is almost non-existant, and the lead guitar is just a hair to loud. Ill be posting a new mix on this song soon.......

I was so amazed with the guitar playing that I didn't notice anything wrong with the bass.

Looking forward to hearing it! :):)

ok, same link as above has the new mix......

more bass guitar, less lead guitar....it all seems to gel together quite nicely now i think....

what do you all think about this mix? does it need more/less of anything?

The bass still seems a little low to me. Bring it up to the same level as the kick which will also make the kick sound a bit less clicky. Everything else sounds really good.

I like the satriani style production. Everything sounds good. I can pick out that the drums are programmed, but that may just be because I use EZDrummer too, so the sound is familiar, and also because you told me.

Great playing, great recording, great song.

loved it...

Often I'll hear a guitar instrumental and stop playing it after around 30 seconds because the playing is so shit. On yours however, the playing is beautiful and I wanted to listen to the whole thing. It is very satriani like but I guess you knew that already ;-)

Ben.

this is nice, but it sounds stock. i think if someone gave you 100k to really put something together, it'd be something else!

ok, now where getting somewhere.....

what would you do to it to make it sound "not stock"? Im not concerned about the song, playing, composition of the song (but thanks guys who said is sounds nice and great playing!).....but im more concerned about the mix and the overall sound production....

so what would you do to make it sound "not stock"? whats holding it back from sounding good?

Dude, I love your playing and your composition (though I'd call it more Vai-like than Satriani; but still all your own). I can seriously imagine you on a Favored Nations release.

I appreciate your willingness to hear and learn, but before JordanD answers, you should hear some of his stuff. It'll give you some sense of context for whatever advice he might offer:

(Just offering fair warning!)

hello :). yes, i like how you play guitar, you are like a bebop horn player! i just think the mix lacks a... atmosphere, feel, personality. it sounds like theres not a lot of action, even though the guitar work is theatric.

;) LOL..........i guess my mix is as pro as it will get then......

my mixes are wild with feeling! i just think that the rock guitar mix sounds like something you'd hear in a tv commercial or behind a presentation! it kind of reminds me of the saved by the bell theme :)

its technically perfect!

so other than turning up the bass guitar up a bit......no other suggestions?

Bryan, for me this is perfect, I don't see what you can do better. Sure if you recorded in a million dollar studio it would maybe sound better...
Just leave it as it is, it's fantastic! :D

Joe :)
