This is just super. So the dude can really fingerstyle impressive. Beats me how people can do that and sing.

Very full tone from the git. Very rich. Good capture. Is that a shaker in the background? Or was that the click bleeding thru that you talked about? Sounded like a shaker.

There was a shaker in the earlier mixes I posted...they're gone now. I was trying to cover up the click bleed.

Thanks to everybody for listening.

um, if you could let me know how it is that you record your acoustic guitars, that would be great. I've read a lot of stuff, and tried a few things, but this is exactly the sound that I would go for if I was to record an acoustic/vocal song. I'll be using these songs as reference material for acoustic guitar.

And your betteroffdad site is no longer. Are those songs stored somewhere?

First, thanks.

There's no great magic to it...I usually take the AT4050 and start about 6 to 8 inches away from the neck, pointing about about the 14th fret. Listen to it on headphones...and either move it towards the headstock to remove some low end or towards the soundhole to get more boom.

A lot of people recommend 12 to 20 inches from the guitar...That's probably awesome, but I don't like doing that because it involves more of the room than I like. I don't record in great rooms...I record at home. I prefer close mic'ing.

Finally, and this is just my personal opinion, but when you record in not so great spaces, I think acoustic guitars are like acoustic drums...they require some work after they're recorded. I use a multiband compressor and tame the region surrounding 315Hz, and boost a bit in the 5K region to make them ring a bit.

As always, outstanding. ;) I love the guitar sounds your getting.
Bloom needs pedal steel:D

Must be nice working with talented musicians!
Thanks for posting these.

Bloom needs pedal steel:D

Funny you should say that, man. His plan is to go into a real studio in February and make more of a country album out of these songs???? He specifically mentioned pedal steel!

What I'd really LOVE to do is to bring these tunes into more of an Americana area. Accordions. Distorted Pedal Steel...some fat Les Pauls.

If anybody wants to play ANYTHING on these, by all means, do it. SAVE MR. RAMIREZ FROM GOING COUNTRY!!!!

...and thanks for listening, lol.

wow, these are very nice. I like the voice alot, and the guitars. No real griped other than the string noise is too prominent on the last track. Awesome job, both of you.

Hi

Great song, great guitar playing and great voice. I really enjoyed it.

Excellent work.
