I'm confused by all the terms.
Acoustic electric?
Semi hollow?
Is it one of those new fangled acoustic basses with a piezo?
Is it one of those old fangled semi acoustic basses (slightly archtopped, floating bridge, tail piece anchored to the bottom)?
Is it a plank with hollow wings?
I have a semi acoustic bass (arched, floater, tail piece etc) that I have flat wound strings on - it gets all sorts of tones depending on the signal chain.
I have a solid body with wound strings.
I have a cello with a bug pick up.
I could play slap bass on the cello - a little high but it works BUT the semi acoustic is cool for it - BIG fat tone, some of that semi acoutic tone &, if it's for recording, a mic near the neck/body join to pick up the strings/finger/slappin'.
What exactly are the correct terms for what we're talking about in bass bodies?
