I'm surprised he hasn't been neg. repped to hell and back yet.

The point here wasn't to insinuate that your reputation was "bad". The point was that you just waltz in, camp your ad and expected everything to go swell with no reputation (good or bad) at all. The logical side of me wants to point out that without knowing a person, it's hard to guage the type of person they are. On the other side of that, I would have assumed that knowing that no one knew who you were, it would be hard to take out of what has been posted that anyone was claiming that you were of any form of ill repute.

How does the saying go? "Thou duth protest too much?"

Something of that nature. Anyway, chill out, look around. They're a fickle bunch, but alot of these guys are as clean as they are knowledgable and experienced, and that my friend is worth more than any piece of gear you're unwilling to list the prices of.
:D

Thanks for restating my point and the obvious. Noone has to trust me unless they are buying. Then the due diligence and references can be checked which is of no concern until the original post has generated an interest in a sale. You don't "know" the sellers on Ebay either, and yet it happens all the time. How could that be since trust is such a wildcard. Go figure...

If it is your intention as a community to be so exclusive, you should probably state somewhere then that the board is only for members who know each other. That way, guys like me won't bother listing in the first place. I can't for the life of me see the value in a community that limiting, but if it works for you great. This is why forums need mods...

That's exactly the point. Being that you are virtually unknown around here your post sends up a big red flag as it should. You could be the most honest person in the world but how do we know that? Because you say so?

This section "is" for known members to sell gear to other known members. Only an idiot would give money to a brand new member with an almost nonexistent post count.

OK, I waltzed. Even that seems to come off with some negative connotation...and yet waltzing aside, I did put up my ad and as a result now my 02R is sold. Glad I found the place. I knew from the second I did that this was a good place to find serious buyers of studio gear and I guess I wasn't wrong. I'm shipping it tomorrow (well, Monday - close enough). Hopefully, I'll continue to get PM's from interested parties and the rest of the gear will find a home as well. Cheers.

It must not be obvious because you don't seem to get it. Ebay has a feedback system in place because you DON'T know the sellers. If a seller has ZERO feedback would you buy from them? Most people would not. Our feedback system is the trust and reputation that we build over time with other members.

If it is your intention as a community to be so exclusive, you should probably state somewhere then that the board is only for members who know each other. That way, guys like me won't bother listing in the first place.

HELLO..McFLY.. that's what everyone has been trying to tell you. People post items here as a courtesy to other known members.

I can't for the life of me see the value in a community that limiting, but if it works for you great. This is why forums need mods...

We are just cautious of noob sellers. 9 times out of 10 when a noob shows up trying to sell things he is a scammer. We don't need mods because the unwritten rules of common sense that we follow work fine.

Look, I get it. But you have got to get back to the fact that there is no language on this site to that effect. So the issue is that since there was no guidance telling me that it is not a good idea for a noob to post a sale thread, I did and now it exists, and yes noone knows me. So mow I have to figure how to proceed. So now that I am armed with the knowledge that according to you and others it is not cool that I as a noob have a sales thread since I am not an established member in good standing, should I just take the ad down and quit the forum? You do recognize that at least one person is now going to benefit from my ad in getting a great deal on an 02R, right?

So the issue for us realists, me included, is what is the point of this discussion? I mean I get all that about the noob sales posts, etc. and the perceptions although I disagree with the compartmentalization of your thoughts on that, but now that it is done what difference does all this make? I mean since I didn't know better, what is the value in hammering on me and the specifics any more? The fact is I didn't know the unwritten rule about sales posts before posting and what is done is done. In fact, obviously now it may even be more clear that I'm not a scammer since I'm taking the time to try and have a meaningful discussion about all this.

BTW, post count has nothing to do with knowing someone. If you had a million posts and I wanted to buy from you I would check personal references in the industry. I think Ebay's rating system for sellers is a joke to be honest. The "reputations" I like to trade on don't fit in a little box with red and green highlights...

Anyway, I'm kind of getting tired of stating my case so can we all agree that what is done is done and I do in fact have an ad up with no prices and people can PM me if interested? As I said, the 02R sold already so obviously my ad is in the right place.

If it is any interest to you I also might add that I'm glad to have found the forum and I'm sure I'll visit for reasons beyond selling for many years to come.

And when this magnificent person posts a goodguy reply you shall earn your first shed of respect, assuming of course that it's unsolicited, etc. If it's another noob, expect round #2 of accusations and commentary.

For someone who doesn't have the time to do much, you sure are posting a lot of lengthy posts in this thread...

Not saying...just saying. :D

Always time for poetic justice and truth. My thread, my trial - and I'm not the one on the stand. Let's not forget that I am the one being unwelcomed so let's just not turn it around shall we?

It is also great fun to expose forum rats who are hyper-critical of everything out of sheer boredom for who they are. They are also usually those who claim to be experts in whatever field the forum specializes in and yet have never attained any notoriety or traction in said field. They spend their time drowning in thier own uncontrollable cynicism born of their own failed attempts at greatness or even minor success, and when the gravity of the fact that their station in life is fixed and dreamless, they angrily lash out at anything which can serve as a new slave to the bitter ego master. It is so common nowadays on the internet that it has become nothing less than terminally boring with a capital "T".

It is these professional miscreants who should be questioned for having the "time" to post in my sales thread, not me. The thread had specific purpose and although none of them were ever potential buyers, they still felt the need to litter it and me with their bile. My interest has only been in defense of the thread which serves a specific purpose and I will continue to defend it. In short, keep them coming if you like. At this point, the thread is pure sport and as I mentioned I really could care less if any of the gear ever sells, although I still would sincerely love to see a home found for the rest of it as I did for the 02R.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, you too of course are one more added to the pile of senseless contributors who felt the need to slag me and the thread which of course has absolutely no value. I wonder what goes through your mind to compell you to write what you did? I'm sure there are medical experts who could produce a dozen Freudian reasons. But of course the simplest reason is most likely that you too have nothing better to do for the same reasons stated above so I shall expect no more from you.

Actually at least your handle has some value to the thread. Look, I'll use it in a sentence: If anyone is interested, I have a "myriad" of nice stuff for sale...

I'm also selling some watery plums if anyone is interested. I would prefer to sell them to noobs, but I will also consider dealing with senior members. Please contact me via PM for pricing as I prefer not to list prices in my sales threads...

...did somebody say "insufferable"? :D ;)

I haven't posted on this thread yet, but since I'm a forum rat who has never attained any notoriety or traction in my field, I thought I should :o

I've finally attained a bit of traction in my field--but that involved a 4 wheel drive truck, some mud, and a chain. So I guess I can post too.

Would that be a corn..or soybean field?

I'm embarrased to say this, but it's...weeds. We live in farm country--corn on one side, goats and cows on the other. But we're interlopers, not farmers. We just have 25 acres in the middle of it all and enjoy playing in the woods and hiding from the rest of the world! :D

All this and 12 posts (all of which are in this thread). Whose useless to the BBS again?

And so my response would once again be: What use is what you write here to this sales thread? I guess I'll just keep asking as they come through...

Oh and make no mistake that that I'm fine with your diagnosis. I freely admit that I am only here at this point because I have something to sell. Sorry it turned out that way but I don't care for the company he BBS keeps so far, although the potential and eventual buyers have all seemed friendly enough.

I never intended to be of use to the forum, other than that I have provided valuable goods for sale. So it is my gear that is of use to the buyers not me. I'm not egocentric enough to think I'm of any use to any forum. I'll leave that up to the rest here who clearly have an exagerated sense of thier own self worth. At least enough to feel the need to police threads for a lack of published pricing information (and why was that again?), which clearly has served no purpose in this thread but to disrupt it. I say again that this is what moderators are for, and yet I keep hearing you don't need them. Think that. Fine...

But you can rest assured that I am more than happy to be personally useless to all of you. I couldn't imagine finding a common ground with which to interact together and discuss anything recording related and have any valuable outcome if a simple sales thread can't go unchallenged. Imagine if I expressed an opinion about a particular brand of console or something. That would surely come to blows. Oh the horror...
