Hey all,

I'm looking for ways to improve my guitar playing and I happened to stumbled across Tom Hess's website http://tomhess.net. Any of you guys take online lessons before? Is it good? I've been reading quite a lot on Tom's site and it seems pretty legit and different from other guitar lesson sites. I'm really close to becoming a member, any opinions why I shouldn't?

Thanks for any advice.:D

Get a reference

I havent used music sites like this, however, if I was buying a service from any company that required considerable investment, I'd ask the provider (Tom) to put me in touch with someone who has used the service with success. This works for both business and personal financial decisions. The website has a list of students that you can contact directly.

Regards,
Ally

Thanks for the reply. Have you heard him before? He seems like a pretty famous guitarist. I just heard of him when I came across his website.

All it takes is motivation. Just how good do you want to be? How much time will you devote to this profession?

If you say yes; learn everything you can. Don't limit yourself to certain styles.

Get out there and haul ass, make us all proud.;):D

Thanks for the link. Great site. Btw what is an a la carte? :D

A la carte means you can buy just what you want--you don't have to buy a whole set or system or whatever. (It's used mostly in restaurants--you can buy a plate, or you can buy items a al carte and make your own plate. From the French for "from the menu" referring to items priced separately.)

Thanks for the info.:D

what's with all the religious talk???

And if you face east, while staring at a bunch of stones made into a wall, and kneel on a rug, with a towel on your head.... then it'd be "ala"

(spelling error on purpose). ;)
