Another one to examine for me

Thanks man. If you really wanna go back in, I think the overheads can come down a little. :o
I'll look at it, but I liked them a bit on top...

How are you coming with the next one? :D

*bump*

I did this for a good reason, someone needs to take a look at this. Sorry... :o

nice song, drums sound too up front and fake, the singing is lacking a little pitchy in spots, and the harmonies at times are a little painful...needs a little work yet but has great potential.

The drums are not fake. They are a little bit too loud. That's fixable.

Everyone knows my singing isn't the greatest, so there's not much I or anyone can do about it other than autotune, which I won't do.

Hey Rokket I think the FX on your voice are a little too wet. I would try backing off of them just a hair. Don't be afraid to let your voice come through a little more. In the type of song I believe the vocals should be very clear and present. Also try squeezing the vocals a little more to tame the levels a little more. The guitar sounds great as do the drums (although they may be a tad too loud). Overall a very nice song. :)

Try putting Autotune on a bus and blending that track in with your vocals it should make the "autotuning" a little more subtle. ;)

I would, but I don't have Autotune. Reaper has a varient of it, but I can't get the settings right. Even if I blend it like you suggest, it's noticeable... I will have to keep plugging away.

So double the vocal track and put the autotune variant on one of those tracks. Play with the settings hopefully, that variant has a place to select the key of the song, then blend those two tracks together. Setup a vox bus and send both vox tracks to that bus eq and compress to taste. :)

I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, I think this one is done. I only bumped it up so that another member could hear it and see if I could help him with his tracks.

Thanks for all the replies; good, bad, or indifferent.

Rokket J,
Greg rocks things along doesn't he?, he alo has a very cool way of recording & dropping the files for collabs doesn't he? & Gorty's playing again, hallelujah - it's been an age since he dropped something for me to hear & VERY tastefully done too.
autone tune is for 'fraidy cats. I like your honest vocals just that way - honest!
You crank the bvox well mate!
Nice tune, well observed.

Thanks, but you should know that this collab (at least Gorty's part) is almost a year old.

I work slow, but I work steady...

Thanks again for the listen.

Not sure if the intended party heard this so I'll bump it for ya.....;) And auto tune is controversial to say the least...It's like religion - always good for a rousing discussion!

Yeah, I just heard an old Kid Rock song last night where they had the autotune or vocoder or something on the vocals that I hated the sound of.

I dunno if you listened to the right song, Arvo. This post was for "Brother's Keeper", not 200 Lashes, which was on top because it's the last thing I did before I lost the high speed internet.
