Logo design - anyone interested in helping a poor fellow musician?

Hey guys - just wondering if anyone is willing to help design a logo for my band. Nothing fancy, something easily reproducable in B/W also. I'd appreciate any help I could get. We're an older bunch of guys and it's a cover band. If you're interested, please let me know. I don't know how we can compensate you (especially if you do this for a living) but maybe we can work something out. Thanks.
 
I don't want to speak for my friend, but I could mention it to him and see if he's interested. He designed our logo, which is my current picture next to my name.

you need to lay it all on the table ....sorry to say it but a band logo is the least of your concerns ...these days you need to consider the wider picture....you need to consider yourself a brand.....this is the starting point.

Appreciate it. Just looking for something to be able to replicate on our promo material, posters, business cards, etc. Doesn't have to be fancy, but eye catching. The name of the band is NFD, so even if it's just something with the letters, that would be cool. Don't need elaborate artwork, just something recognizable. I know that's not an easy task (which is why I can't do it), but any ideas would be helpful...maybe even just a starting point. Thanks.

Umm...look at my age. I've probably been doing this longer than you've been alive (then again, maybe not). I appreciate your train of thought, but I'm far from worrying about becoming a brand...or a star...or even a full time musician. We're just a few guys doing this because we still can, we've just come out of a very popular local band that unfortunately broke up and we're only looking to get out there quickly and hope our fans don't go away.

I do understand what you mean, but I don't feel it's relevant in my case. Thanks though.
 
it may not be 100% relevant if your just messing around.. but if you want to gig regularily and out of town zazz does bring up a good point. I know you've been doing this for a long time but the whole landscape of this industry has completely changed over the years.

You might not need a huge marketing campaing to play a few shows but you do need an image.. the logo is the first place to start and definately not "the least of your concerns"

You said you were trying to keep some of your old fans.. you have to act right now.. start playing shows right away.. I made this mistake once. I was in a band that was getting a lot of hype.. it was surreal to me.. We'd go somewhere and people would already know our songs.. unfortunately the band ended up falling apart.. and I immediately started a new band.. but it took forever to get it off the ground.. I waited too long and now no one remembers me and i'm starting from scratch again.


My suggestion.. get the logo, make merch.. set up some shows (even if you only play a short set) keep the momentum going and you'll be fine
 
Well I may be able to get you some samples. I may be able to do it tonite, if not tommorow for sure.

Quick question for though, what type of songs do you guys play, like era or style?

It may make it a bit easier to give it the style you guys have.

We cover songs from the 70's - 90's...Frampton, Stevie Ray, Doobies, Eagles, Chris Isaak, Georgis Satellites...danceable stuff. Does that help?
 
yes it does, im hoping to incorporate that into it as much as possible. Should have a couple samples for you by tommorow latest.

I'll take whatever help I can get. The band is called NFD (which stands for No F*****g Divas or No Friggin' Drama - we like them both) but we don't want anyone to know, it's an inside joke, so just NFD please. I posted the music style above. Thanks!
 
Well Ive tried but I got nothing. I will keep trying throughtout the day and hopefully spud can help you out better. Ill keep at it.

:)Hi Rick, saw your thread and came up with something for you, it's pretty hard designing a logo when you can't show anything to do with the meaning of the letters so I just kept it simple, hope you like it but don't worry if you don't- here's the link:

Hi. The link tells me it's there, but it won't allow me to open anything. I'd love to see it but I can't.:o
 
Hi Rick, sorry your having trouble, seems OK when I do it, it is a bit confusing, i'll just run through what I do:

Click on link
close pop up that comes up, go to window underneath
scroll down past red box to grey box
Click on "Download with file factory basic" in blue writing
Close another pop up
Type in the letters in box
Click on green download button.

Hope this is OK.
