There's an $800 sonor "studio" set on musicians friend and i'm looking for something to put in the studio for bands that don't wanna lug their own. I was just wondering if this set is worth it. I know sonor makes some quality sets, but every company makes a high quality and low quality set. I use a really small dead room for drums, not by choice...

Here's the link:

SOMEONE HELP ME FIND A DRUM SET!?

Thanks

I'm an EC2 guy, well with a coated ambassador for the snare, would you consider those good heads? What works for recording?

Heads?

Clear Emperors on toms with ambassador resonate side is very popular with good reason.
Coated Emperor on the snare or ambassador as suggested above. I've used Evans dry and it provides a very damped snare sound without sounding taped up.
Power stroke III on the kick is a good choice I think.

I never got this drum thing even after years of building guitars.
Shells are made of laminates or composites.
Hoops are cast, pressed[cheap] or [I think]machined[correct?]
Finish...wraps or sprayed.
Heads and proper tuning can do wonders fer a cheap kit.

I ain't no drummist so correct me if I'm wrong. I'm here to learn...and ridicule but mostly learn!!!:D
