i don't understand why there are so many metal bands. its all garbage anyways.

Lyrics:
C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me.
C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me.
C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me.
oh cookie cookie cookie starts with C.

ok, joking aside I think the drums arent' hitting hard enough. there should be more snap in the snare. The cymbals sound fine, but snare is buried.

The snare drum sounds like a cardboard box. The drums in general lack definition.

Musical tastes not withstanding (ahem, jndietz :D) here's my thought on the recording/mix:

It's all too far away. This genre's supposed to be very up front & in your face--SMACK! But this sounds more like I'm standing outside the garage where these guys are playing. I want to hear what it sounds like standing right in between 'em.

And I'm not talking about volume--it would still be the same if it were louder. Everything's a bit thin, and there's too much of the room in the mix.

My $.02

How was the guitar recorded? Sounds transistor.

Where's the bass? Needs more balls. More bottom.

Guitars are not in your face enough, and they too, could use a little more on the bottom end.

No matter how much I turn it up...
....it doesn't get loud.

First impression is that the drums are to far forward. However, after a few seconds I realized that the guitars are not forward enough.

Death Metal is not easy to produce. It's a fine line between powerful, booming bottom end, and pure mud. You are far from the mud side, with lots of room.

Perfectly put. Exactly what I was trying to say.

It sounds as if I'm listening to the spill from someone's headphones.
Go back in, remove any effects form everything and repost a mix or raw tracks please. From there it'll be easier to see if it's a tracking or processing problem.
Blessedly unloud though.

Yeah, pretty much everything sounded a little thin and weak, especially the snare. I can almost guarantee that you'll need to re-track it.

The vocals from 1:50 (ish) on were pretty cool.

I'm not so sure that you didn't have enough bass. Everything sounded pretty bassy to me. I think you may actually need more high end on the guitars.

Best of luck with this!

black metal's all about lo-fi. i think it fits, especially the ugly 'verb on the vocals!

heres the link again, it should work now.

i havnt had time to make a new mix, but i plan on messing w/ the eq on the snare to make it stand out more. Also ill try taking the room mics for guitars and such down a bit and bringing the close mics up. Ill screw w/ the bass level too and see what sounds good.
Oh, and the only effects and whatnot that are on is reverb on the vocals, the rest is just what was recorded.
Ill put an updated version up soon.

Actually, quite believable. The mix could get a tad louder, and clearer on the high frequencies, but it sounds like Black Metal as it is, and mastering would bring up the volume.
Not a bad song either!:D

Any update on the mix? I'd like to see how it turned out.

link doesn't work for me either--takes me to soundclick's homepage.\

i'd really like to critique this one--it's not too often modern metal gets posted here.
