The Musician's Friend Stupid Buy for today, July 9, 2008, is the "Korg K61P 61-Key USB/MIDI Controller" for $150, which also means free shipping to the continental US. Here's the link:

I ordered one - I'm no expert on this sort of thing, but it seems like a decent price - they say their normal price is $350 (and list is 450), but I think street is more like $200.

They were $10 less earlier this week on the Stupid deal.

You may be able to get a $10 credit.

I ordered one, due here Friday.

What did you think of yours?

Here's the page for these.

thanks - I'll see if MF will hook me up with the $10.

I haven't used it too much yet, but I've put it through the paces that count to me -- that is, I'm not at all concerned with the internal sounds, and much more just wanted a non-tiny USB midi keyboard. The keys feel a little more substantial than other cheap keyboards.

I also have a Pad-Kontrol drum pad, and both that and this keyboard are pretty well constructed, as plastic things go. I've got two m-audio keyboards (both smaller) they seem flimsier -- one of them stopped sending midi signals across the wire (it still powers up, it's weird, and for a while, the midi was intermittent, then went away for good -- still works through a standard midi cable).

Anyway, I'm happy with it - it's pretty much what I wanted and what I thought it would be.

I just got mine.

The nitwits at MF sent it in the retail shelf pack without even any tape, so the bottom fell open and lost all the instructions, software, drivers, cables, etc.

I hooked it up to USB standby power on my notebook and tested it to see if it was otherwise OK. Apparently so, but I'm pretty unimpressed.

The user reviews said it had good key action, but mine has exactly the same awful stiff spring keys as on every other cheap sub-$100 keyboard. I wonder what those people are thinking. One of the reasons I got it was for improved key action over the MK4902 I already have, but they're 100% identical in this respect. Big disappointment!
