Hello everyone, I'm currently building a few panels for my home studio but am coming to the point of having to do something about my window & glass door. I don't own the property I'm living in & although my landlord is very tolerant I don't want to go beyond the point of hanging things up with hooks etc.

I was basically wondering if you can buy an acoustic fabric that could be hung up on a rail over the door frame & window just like curtains? A lot of the ideas I've come accross on this & john sayer's site seem a little too intrusive structrally.

I can't spend a quazmillidgdron dolla on this either :p

A heavy curtain with lots of folds will do nicely.

"A heavy curtain with lots of folds will do nicely."

honestly? Well, that's a relief!!

I'll just get my mummy to make some up for me :D :p

pandamonk, just to tell you i'm just waiting on getting fabric off of ebay to finish the absorbers, i was supposed to be getting it from someone, but they got the wrong end of the stick - they gave me this laminated hessian or whatever so I had to get some off of ebay, I know you offered me some but I wasn't wanting to be a pain in the ass!! I'm already annoying people day to day on this forum with my silly questions & general stupidity .

I built 5 frames in a couple of hours, I'm going to build more absorbers in a little while to copy the diagram you gave me, i just wanted 4 basstraps & one absorber above me absorbing problem monitor deflections. The frames were made of tougue & groove 7mm thick wood from b&q. They came in 1.8m lengths (5 to a pack) so i bought 2 packs for £7 odd. I then bought cheap corner braces to hold them all together off of ebay. The frames are surprisingly strurdy & very light so they probably wont fall down when I hang them up. We'll soon see though

We've got some curtains i bought for my absorbers but never used. Would sell them quite cheap. The curtains won't be as good as an absorption panel, but they will do fine, cost less, look better and not structrally intrusive.

What's theaminated stuff like? It might be better for bass traps. I'd let Ethan, Rod, or whoever confirm that first though.

You can't breathe through the laminated stuff, it had a backing on it, I was lucky enough to find some muslin on ebay, 10m of it was 11.50 inclusive of p&p. The fabric stores I phoned up were incredably expensive, couldn't believe the difference

Yeah fabric is expensive! That stuff might've been better for bass traps. Gerenally you want breathable for broadband, and that includes broadband bass traps. But for a dedicated BASS traps, then it might've been better. Shouldn't matter though.
