Hi There Everyone,

I just started using Cubase LE 4 for recording and I have a problem when it comes to my Midi monitoring... I couldn't hear the sound coming out of my headphones when it comes to playing the midi track, but I could hear my recorded guitar parts...
I exported a Midi Drum track from Guitar Pro 5 and when I import it in Cubase and play it, I couldn't hear the sound coming out. It know that I correctly imported the midi because whenever I play it I could see the monitor bars moving so that means I imported it right, but when I play it I could get no sound from my headphones... is there something i've done wrong? Please help me with this I would really appreciate any help or advice.

Thank you and Godbless

you need to route the midi drum track to a drum machine or sampler. Open up vst instruments (F11) and select the LM-7 from the drum menu. On your midi track where it says Out:, select the lm7.

thanks so much for the reply. i tried doing this too, I couldnt find the LM-7 file... i tried to download some vsts but it just doesnt work.. But i think theres something im doing wrong. I tried to do everything in the manual and i still dont get the midi to sound. I also tried this Halion thing and I also downloaded the halion package to be sure and it still doesnt work.. But im sure theres something im doing wrong I just dont know what... Could you guide me through the steps on what to check and do so that i could hear my midi playback?

here's what i've done so far:

1. exported programmed drums from Guitar Pro 5 to Midi
2. opened a new project in Cubase LE
3. added an instrument track(used the Halion option)
4. dragged the midi file to the instrument track

but when i play it, i still dont get sound. when I open the presets in the Halion control, I just couldnt see any file even though I installed the halion package already(im currently using Mac OSX)

please help... I really am on the end of the rope here... Im planning to get the EZdrummer but if I couldnt get through this problem, I dont think that it would be easy for me to use the EZdrummer..

thank you and I really appreciate any reply

I don't have a mac this le program nor ezdrummer but what altitude909 said is correct. Maybe reread your manuals? It takes about three times before you can see the forest through the trees. Make sure it's a midi track and not an audio. Midi tracks don't have sound and audio tracks won't play midi. You might try going to edit and choose GM/GS/XG editor if it has one and then choose the GM mode, associated program and output to your soundcard.

You have to add it to the VST stack (F11) before it is available anywhere, this applies to all VST instruments

Do you still have to run drums through channel 10?
