Hey all,

So I finally get around to setting up a small home studio and decided that the Multimix 8 USB would a good start since it came with Cubase LE and I purchased it new for less than $140 out the door.

I've been playing around with Cubase and that seems to be working well so far but here is my issue and I'm not entirely sure it's not my PC settings or if I just have the monitors routed incorrectly but how do I hear the recorded tracks via the USB cable, back through the mixer and into my monitors?

Currently I have my monitors setup on the control room channel, which allows me to hear the sounds coming over the inputs that are going IN to be recorded in Cubase. Now I want to be able to play back the recorded track THROUGH the multimix and into my monitors.

Is this possible? ......I bought the USB mixer because I didn't want to drop big money on a soundcard/mixer/software situation.......but I can't seem to figure out how to listen to the tracks using my monitors....aside from having to route the sound out of my PC's soundcard and back into the mixer.

All help is greatly appreciated!

I figured it out. My PC output was setup incorrectly.

Now I have this high pitch whine coming from the mixer when the sound is coming through the USB feed.

Any ideas?

Smack your girlfriend upside the head and tell her it's music. That'll stop the whining.

But seriously... do you get the whine when you are listening through headphones, with your monitors off?? If not then turn the mic channel down. :D Just guessing......

Cheers,

Actually, the whine is coming through both the headphones and monitors (they are both on the control room channel).

The only way I get the whine to go away is to disconnect the USB cable from the mixer. Lowering the channels or even lowering the mix level output or control room output does not eliminate the whine.

The whine exists inspite of what is on the channel or coming from the mixer.....once it's connected to the USB and Cubase, it starts to whine.....
